Fallout: Hazardous Paradise

Handleshack

Recommended Posts

Um, hi. I'm Handleshack, a relatively new member of the Nexus Forums. So, this RP was inspired by The Vault, by antokr. If I misspelled your name, sorry about it!

So, before we start, a few erm...rules.

1. Please Role Play in Third Person. I'm assuming you know what this is, so no example will be provided.

2. Please, when speaking, speak in quotes, and don't signify actions with asterisks.

3. Don't control other member's characters, try not to be all powerful, invincible, etc.

4. Please abide by real world physics, such as not being able to carry eight shotguns, a rocket launcher, and an infinite amount of ammo for each of them. It's...it's just not done.

5. Please, mark Out Of Character speak with ((...)) or just a simple OOC: tag.

6. Please don't speak computer lingo, a person whose response to "How are you?" is "OMFG HOW JOOP DOIGN BOI I KEEL SUM NUBCAKS YSTRDAE OLOLOL FTW!!!!1!" isn't the sort that I'm looking for in a Role Play.

7. Please, literacy is encouraged. Don't be afraid to let others know exactly what you're saying. Or, typing, as the case may be. Oh, basic understanding of the English language is a must, too.

So, let's get on with it, hmm?

Vault 83

Meant to test the extreme measures inhabitants would go to to survive. For every 10 people, they sneaked in 1 inhabitant with a mutagen. This mutagen gave the individual no outside deformities, but would eventually deteriorate the individuals mental capabilities, essentially devolving them into violent savages. No, this would not happen in the individual's lifetimes, but over the course of time. This gene was dominant. The Vault, meant for testing the physical and mental duress of individuals, was also made substantially larger then the standard variants, with the Power Generator designed to fail after 200 years. The Vault's main source of energy was hydroelectric, thus an infinite source until the seas run dry.

The Vault is also home to an underground labyrinth, located directly beneath the body water adjacent to the Vault. Some rooms flooded, others packed with weapons, medicine, food, and the like. Others were completely empty, made for hostile wildlife to make them their nesting grounds.

August 3, 2254, the Power Generator has failed early. The Overseer sends a small group of Engineers to work on the problem.

This was 3 weeks ago. The Engineers never returned, all that was found was a blood stained wrench and the ripped upper section of a jumpsuit.

People have begun to go missing, mostly the violent kind of people, crazy, they were called.

This is the story of Vault 83.

Codename: Hazardous Paradise.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

So, you'll be playing as an inhabitant of the Vault, nothing's gone wrong yet, except some people are missing, and the main power generator's out, so you've got to cope without. When I feel the time is right, I'll announce something has gone wrong, and take appropriate action, at which the actual action will begin. Until then, I, the overseer, will be enforcing the Vault Guidelines, stationing guards wherever possible to ensure the inhabitants don't panic.

Of course, the Vault is located in sunny Washington D.C., somewhat adjacent to Rivet City.

Oh, and remember, you won't have any weapons, aside from a pipe or a knife or something, until actual event unfolds. Only the Overseer knows about the conditions of the Vault Dwellers and etc. If you're a Vault Guard, you can have some actual Vault Armor and a 10mm pistol.

Erm, sorry, the combat shotgun will be a problem, for now. All players, for now, will be Vault Dwellers, limit yourself to a Low-level pistol of some sort, and a melee weapon.

Also, you'll need a personality, and a bit more a...descriptive appearance, since I'm imagining Rorschach right now. :D

Name: Leonardo De'santos

Gender: M

Age: 25

Appearance: Long blonde hair with a rather broad face. His eyes are warm, happy and differently colored, he hasn't been able to shave lately and has quite a lot of stubble.

Job: None, used to rely on his girlfriend, who has ditched him. Now he's a scavenger exploring the vault for food and stuff he can sell.

Weapons: Has a small pistol he found and kept secret, he only uses it in the direst of emergencies.

Background: Born into a poor beggar family, he never really made it. Instead he came to rely on his girlfriend for money. Last year she ditched him, forcing him into the rough trade of scavenging.

Personality: Incredibly distrustful of strangers, but will immediately warm up to a new friend. He would share his food if he had anyone to share with, but he doesn't.

Have put in italics anything you might not accept so it will be easy for you to separate them and say 'no'. This is my first rpg on forum so I could easily make mistakes though I will try hard not to do so.

Name Jack Manning

Gender Male

Age 25

Appearance Ruggedly handsome but scarred on right cheek though scar is somewhat faded. Eyes different colours being left green and right brown. Skin colour is lightly dusky white. Hair colour is dirty blonde, almost brown. Fairly tall, quite broad, slimly muscular but moves rather smooth and cat like, light on feet, especially for size.

Job Guard. On probation for questioning orders from Overseer but so skilled that he is needed on duty anyway.

Weapons 10mm pistol, police baton, body (his mother secretly trained him in Karate as her father had trained her).

Also home made submachinegun firing 10mm inherited from grandfather (yes it can be done, surprisingly was on our world in various times for basic SMGs can be made from a wide range of materials and grandfather had access to maintainance facilities) but hero normally can not use it as it must remain hidden. Uses same mags as pistols but fires automatic.

Background Ancestors came into vault because others who were meant to do so died in a car accident. Were not VaultTec's preferred choice.

Family is on fringe of community because they never totally believed in what was happing in an official fashion or in the Overseer. He is very tough not only because of guard training but because of being secretly trained in martial arts and some survival arts by his mother and grandfather until he died under questionable circumstances.

Mother and four other adults known to hero vanished when he was in late teens.

Hero wants to know what is really going on in vault, knows generally about grandfather's suspicions and has some engineering technical learning as his mother did. Hero also wants to know what truly happened to his grandfather, mother and the four others.

Grandfather was an engineer and technician, who had friends in VaultTec, realised early on something was at odds with the design of the vault and with the main power supply but knew not to speak out loud or to the wrong people.

Instead he wrote information down in a hidden point out the vault where normally only maintanance people went. In it was the information in booklet form, a home made single shot 10mm pistol (zipgun), a knife, 4 foodbars , 2 bottles of purified water. 2 stimpacks, 2 radaways and a steel reinforced baseball bat.

Personality A little aloof, fairly slow to trust people and make friends but quick to go and assist even strangers in trouble (though he does not rush in blindly) and very loyal to friends but expects loyalty in return and can find forgiving hard to do.

I hope you find this exceptable. If not I can quickly alter it. Remember I am a newbi at this though I have done similar things outside of forum and internet.

I'll join in. I've been interested in a Vault RP, but Atonkr's RP didn't seem structured enough for me.

Anyways:

Name: Jared Mason

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Appearance: Tall and skinny, brown pageboy-style haircut. Wears an extensively modified Pipboy 3000 on his right hand. Currently wearing a Vault 83 repairman's jumpsuit.

Job: Robotic repair/management.

Weapons: Spanner, and an ancient .223 Pistol.

Background: Jared was an orphan who was lucky enough to be admitted into a vault before the bombs dropped. He was put into menial labor by the Overseer, and soon learned how to fix machinery from the janitorial staff. He eventually built his own Mr. Handy robot, named Baxby, from spare parts left from machine repairs and upgrades.

Personality: Extremely nonchalant, intelligent and calculating. Will generally stay calm until a plan comes to mind, then will immediately put it to action. In combat, he will normally send Baxby in to attack, and provide fire support from afar.

Since my character is accompanied by his robot, I think Baxby also needs a profile as well.

Name: Baxby

Model: Vaguely resembles a Mr. Handy Mark II

Weapons: Basic welding torch, power drill, and gripping unit on three arms.

Build/appearance: Baxby has three arms, but only two sensor units/eyes.

Advanced 37.8 memory unit and 2309 computing drive.

Has a G.A.I. communications chip, and talks with an Australian accent.

He also has a toolbox welded to his back, to hold Jared's working supplies.

Personality: Baxby has a loyalty equivalent to a dog towards his creator, and has an extreme distrust to anyone else. He also has a problem with his CPU where he attacks anything without a Vault-Tec logo.

Guys. That was my idea of fallout rp. Ok then put on your rp. Will it be as sucessfull as Vault. No. Remember how many dead rps are on nexus. Why did it happend? because people are creating almost same rps with small changes. The Vault was my first rp. It became a huge success. why? because there was no fallout rps on the nexus. Making another fallout rp is like building two macdonalds on one block. But... really up to you...

Atonkr I never joined your rp, because as IxionInc said, its not structured enough. I like rps where you can't pull a gatling gun out of your pocket and get 40 head shots in a row, I also joined this particular rp as it had structure to it.

Also it may have something to do with the sheer amount of grammatical and spelling errors you can cram into one sentence :P

The Vault was my first rp and you are right. If you really like structured rps. i made rp called Zombie attack. Idea was to have limited amount of everything. We have a bit of ammo and i kinda try to make it realistic. But The Vaults idea was to make it interesting. And you are right its not really balanced. Its kinda hard making the rp with balance plus having interesting storyline. Why it became successful, because i was first on this forum to come up with falloutish rp. But zombie invasion. Yea i kinda try to keep it balanced but i am not that successful with doing it. Maybe you can help me?

and about grammatical errors: English is not my first language.
