steam initialization failed when trying to load Midnight Suns

I am a bit of a noob with nexus mods but I can usually get most stuff working and have used this site on many games, however Midnight suns says steam initialization failed when I try to load it, it does it with no mods at all installed.

I have pointed it to the J:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Marvel's Midnight Suns

My version of Vortex is 1.8.4 and my steam is the latest Non beta update (I don't know how to actually find my version other than it is not beta), I have just tried the latest beta and still the same issue.

I am running windows 11.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Er... getting the same issue. Already installed the extension for Midnight Suns.

It sounds like the issue might be related to the installation path or a conflict between Vortex and Steam. First, try verifying the game files through Steam to ensure everything is properly installed. Also, ensure your Steam Library is correctly recognized in Vortex. You could try running both Steam and Vortex as Administrator to resolve permissions issues.

Hey Stanleh, try running both Steam and Vortex as Administrator, and make sure the game’s EXE is not blocked by antivirus or Windows Defender. Also, double-check that the Vortex deployment method is set to “Hardlink Deployment” in settings. That usually fixes the “Steam initialization failed” issue for Midnight Suns.
