Dark0ne
I went to the Guild Wars OGaming site...http://guildwars.ogaming.com/...seems to be pretty concise. I checked out their forums to see what profession would be best to link up with an Elementalist. I'm still not sure choosing a Mesmer was the best choice as the Illusionary division of spell casting was never my strong point in D&D games. Switch
Nice. Thanks ^^ I haven't done any in-depth reading but I reckon I'll probably go for Warrior/Necromancer (kind of an easy choice I know, but meh). I was always one for playing the game and then reading the instructions later. :D By the way, when do you get to choose your subclass?
Dark0ne
Pretty early on, within the tutorial area of the game. They do crap all in helping you choose so my advice would be to work out your professions, skills etc now before you start playing, cause it always pisses me off having to alt+tab out of games to get a decent verdict on things. I'm definately not one for getting to the level cap and then realising my characters is extremely nerfed because I made the wrong choices in the first hour of playing! Dilvish
My character Owend Gull is a Monk/Warrior level 7. He'll be going through the Academy and into the game proper tomorrow morning. He is focused on healing and smiting on the monk side and swordmanship on the warrior side. Smiting prayers are good in the catacombs since they really hurt the undead. Owend carries a sword and shield when facing living enemies. He may give up the swordplay and focus on tactics and defensive stances later in the game. A healing monk needs to let the other members of the team do most of the fighting and pay attention to the healing part of the job. The warrior skills will be used purely for defense at that point. CLB1110
I currently have 2 characters. A lv 9 warrior/ranger, and a necro/warrior. Switch I suggest making a necro/warrior, not the other way around. This works good because the necro has a great stat called soul reaping that gives him mana after each kill so you always have enough mana for your leeching abilities. Just whip out your warhammer and pound away until your health is low, then use a little blood magic and sap your enemies health and you dont have to worry about not having enough mana because soul reaping takes care of it. Its a great build and I enjoy playing it.
Icefiddell
I first tried with a Necro/Elementalist which i'd strongly suggest you dont do for your first character. I'm playing a Elementalist/Mesmer atm and it seems to be a good combination on both side.
Switch
I have Guild Wars but haven't been able to decide on a character... made 4, deleted 4. Heh... hope to come to some sort of decision today :P My main pet hate is that warriors look so silly IMO... like thick beefcakes in leather dresses. I prefer the look of Elementalist buut... eh, I'll work something out. Think Elementalist/Warrior would work? :P
CLB1110
Hmmm I've seen Warrior/Elementalists that work just fine, so I dont see why the opposite wouldnt. Heck you can have any class combo in this game and itll work. I have a warrior/ranger that would seem like a stupid combo but it works for me. Switch
Finally decided on a Warrior/Elementalist yesterday. Level 6, name is Joren Flameblood. :P Aiming for Axe Mastery 11, Fire Magic 11, Strength 6, Tactics 6. So far he's been working great, has awesome crowd control abilities... although 10 level 3s is still a bit much for him. :P Oh yes, also, I'm currently wandering around trying to find quests... I have "A Gift for Althea" and "Across the Wall" but I haven't been able to figure out how to do either of them. I tried the Beautiful Feather and Shell for the Althea quest but the NPC didn't like either of em. I haven't been able to find any way past the wall... Dark0ne
You're still in the tutorial area. I wanted to get out of that place as soon as possible and didn't do either of those quests!
