Half-Life 2

I just beat Half-Life 2 minutes ago, and thought that the end was pretty sucky. It was cool up to the point where the G-Man talks to you, but I think that the end is pretty badly done. I would have to say though that I loved the game and wont let it get spoiled by the end. Especially the gravity gun. Tell me, what are your thoughts on the game?

Corrected the topic title for you. :P

I agree that the ending is a little... anti-climactic. It ends so suddenly, and leaves you on a bit of a cliff-hanger too... and you don't know what happens to Alyx either, looks like she ends up getting killed. After all that too! :P Doesn't really live up to the rest of the game IMO.

Does suggest that they might do a HL3 though.

The Half-Life 2 expansion pack, Aftermath, is scheduled for release this summer.

Screenshots that have already been released by Valve suggest that Alyx is still alive and well:

Aftermath follows on from where HL2 left off, directly after the destruction of the citadel.

EDIT: But these screenshots both have a citadel in them? ???

EDIT2: I've searched around and found more information. The Citadels' Dark Fusion Reactor is destroyed at the end of HL2, but the Citadel itself takes time before the entire structure collapses, thus giving Gordon and Alyx time to escape City 17. The Antlion Guard can be seen in the first screenshot because City 17 is no longer protected from Xen wildlife by Civil Protection.

Following the usual custom among game developers, Valve also didn't even have the idea of a finished storyline because if the game sold well (which they could be sure of, after all the hype) they'd then be able to produce add-ons and sequels as long as they want (don't expect to see an actual ending in that add-on :P).

Well to go against the grain originaly i hated the ending, or rather felt let down. then after listning to it a few times it is posible one of the best endings to a game to date imho :)

ask me why come on i dare ya :)

well forget aftermath... alex aparently dies... YES! no happy bubly ending.

the g-mans speach... awsome parody of the whole game (not having choices and all, doing exactly as you where suposed to) again not happy and cuddly but a kick in the guts while your down playing you as a puppet.

and then g-man taunting you saying he will continue useing you as a puppet and there is nothing you can do about it. (now we can introduce aftermath and take the idea that the only reason alex lives is so she can be used to manipulate you into doing more of the g-mans dirty work for him)

all up a thoughroly awsome ending... it needed to be grandios... and it did tho in a much more subtle way than i was expecting... basicly you had no choice but to play through the game as we planed (G-Man/Valve) and here we snap you out of the litle dream world you have been inhabiting... oh dident realised you where so engrosed that the ending affected you so much? well that just proves how good the game is baby :)

After reading that, I do agree. But the game was still a little too short. I beat it on easy (didnt realize it was on easy until I was in Ravenholm) in less than a day.I started it saturday morning, took several hours worth of breaks and beat it that night around 11:30. But the game is still worth it.

name a game with a good ending (a recent game), thats a very hard thing to do, because there werent any!

theres no chance im wasting my time with half life 2 again, the game was great but im not waiting half a day on dialup just so i can play it, but yeah the ending for HL2 was...well...crap.

But then again, i hate short endings...so if you've clocked crusader (no remorse) then you could imagine how angry i was when i saw the ending....then how happy i was when i won the auction for no regret...
