leapinglizard
Has anyone else been receiving 403 forbidden errors pages when trying to ascess pages on TESNexus ? its been happening allot to me. Tends to happen in bursts. eg i will get 10 mins of being unable to access site and just get the error . then everything will be fine for aprox an hour. then the error repeats itselft (is this the new ips driver?) Message is Forbidden You don't have permission to access /downloads/file.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. buddah
Sounds like your tracking cookie may have become corrupted. Try logging out then deleting the cookies from the site, log back in and see if that corrects the problem. I will go do some quick surfing and check. Dark0ne
Is this happening to anybody else? This is actually an anti-Denial of Service feature of the site that stops users from making too many connections to the server within 2 seconds. Something like 75 connections in 2 seconds. If you break this threshold you get put into a 15 minute blacklist where all you'll see are 403 errors. You'll probably want to explore why your computer is trying to make large numbers of connections to the server in a short space of time.
LHammonds
I have not seen that msg before. It is possible that person's PC is infected and became a "bot" used to attack the site. LHammonds
buddah
That or it may be a case of IP spoofing as part of the Dos attack.
leapinglizard
whatttt.... my pc could be infected ??? :( ive just run a anti virus scan and used the microsoft antispyware/worm thing on vista and its all come back negative. This has me very concerned. One thing it may be is that im using firefox and have the memory and disk cache turned off ? So it maybe that that my pc is trying to get new information from the nexus servers everytime rather than use the firefox cache ???? (i really hope that is it) any advice would be appreciated
buddah
Let me check a few things, bck in 5. OK, did a quick check.....your ISP uses dynamic IP addressing, and what you are using today is different from the ones you used previously. I can only track any members activity on the forums, so that is what I have checked. So you should know if it was a IP spoof, if the problem does not recur, If it happens again you may have picked up a nasty or something else is going on....which could be browser related. If the problem happens again, take these steps to see if it corrects......log out of both sites and the forum. Power cycle your modem [unplug the power cord for 10 seconds and plug it back in], this should cause your ISP to assign a new IP address. Log back in to the sites and forum and see if the problem is gone.
Ranokoa
It happens to me frequently, although refreshing the page or visiting another or pressing Home (Tesnexus.com) solves the problem. Sometimes ill get it even after a refresh, but 3 refreshes solve the problem. My computer settings disallow any connections of a large quantity without a short period of time (to increase performance overall) and even when i delete cookes which i regularily do every 3 days it still happens occasionally. It never really became a "problem" for me, or at least it doesnt happen enough to annoy me (Except every time it happens i get a heart jerk thinking i did something to get banned.. even when i am logged out without my own permission i get that jerk of a heart, but then again im paranoid. I never do anything to get myself banned, im a firm believer in the rules and try to follow them implicitely.. ANYWAYS off topic) It happens to me a lot, every couple hours or so, but never comes in bursts aside from once in a while a 2 in a row... er. It could be the server, but it could not be. Could be scripting errors or it could be a hidden bug. I suggest a thurough search for bots and other infections just to be on the safe side. Although probably unneeded, it cant hurt... too much. remember the backup you had to load because of the crash? Maybe there is some residual effects like from an earlier stage of the crash happening in the backup files that has yet to, or will ever progress that is just there. A corrupted file, idk. I honestly dont even know 100% what im talking about that is not my field of expertise, but it could be a logical conclusion. I try not to speculate too much in depth but offer suggestions that, even if incorrect, are POSSIBLE accurate enough for those of you who do know what your talking about to trigger an idea saying "HEY maybe this or that is doing this or that?" And who knows. Point being, it is happening to multiple people, and on various computers (i have7 computers in my house, 3 of which i use to log into nexus, but only 1 of which i actually use continuously.)(Ironic.. im broke but have a household of 7 comps. GOD i cant wait to get a job, ima get a premium account and donate with my first and second paychecks i swear to god! This community has done so much for me but i have little to show in regards as thanks... Well, it cant hurt now. So, Thank you Scott, and thank all you moderators for doin what it is you do! Wow i am a plethera of digression when im tired. Meh. Anyways, although i suggest an investigation, however small it may be, it doesnt seem to be too much a problem as awareness to it has obviously been kept to a minimum. PS: Although i DID do what buddah said to do, i did not do it for this purpose. I regularily unplug my computer to dust it, move it, switch computers, and or plug it into my television VIA S-Cable for watching tvland.com/fullepisodes/hogansheroes Yes.. i LOVE THAT SHOW. Point being, although those instructions are already being regularily followed (deleting of cookies logs me out which i do every 3 days on the dot) it was again not for this reason. Point of the point being that i still have the same results, with no better or worse conditions. I hope this helps. I AM NOT saying to others not to try it, DO try it those are great ideas, i am saying, however, it just doesnt work for my own personal computer. bben46
Thread necromancy - You had to dig really deep to find this one - the last post was from June 2009. Nearly 7 years ago. Closed - Way off topic as well as thread necromancy FYI - Thread necromancy means you posted to a very old dead topic. Off topic means what you posted has absolutely nothing to do with what the original topic was about.
