К сожалению, чтобы работать с инструкциями AVX, вам нужны знания в вашей голове. 95% модов - это работа детей, раскрашивающих куртки и прочий ненужный мусор.

Some voodoo magic like intel SDE utility, which allows you to emulate any cpu instruction can help you launch it. But AVX is designed to save CPU time, and emulator is going to eat it instead. Let's see if i can run it on my rustbucket

Edit: No, i can't - it crashes on loading, probably trying to build cache. I might need to actually tun it from SSD XD

BTW AVX might actually useful feature, but Starfield is nowhere near revolutionary or anything, especially in graphics. So it's usual hardware sponsorship event.

I don't understand this form of request. It is like asking for a software render version of the game, so you do not need a GPU or iGPU. Could Beth do that? Of course. Should they? Of course not.

If your processor lacks AVX, it is not close to a 2023 AAA gaming component. Beth open world games do a massive amount of work on the CPU. A lack of AVX means YOUR CPU would ruin everyone's code experience if your CPU is supported.

All PC gaming works by eventually discarding past tech solutions, as indeed does console gaming. Cyberpunk was utterly ruined by the contract CDPR had to support older consoles. And the wretched version CDPR did release on old consoles wasn't even worth using. Starfield has already been largely spoiled by its need so support the Xbox-S. Current devs are begging MS to allow them to ignore the S in the future.

It is terrible that there are gamers who cannot afford to update their gear- but should new media be limited by the worst kit the poorest in society own? And with PC gaming there is so much excellent older gaming content, and indy Steam games that run on weaker systems. And today, second hand base PC systems with excellent specs are available for very little money. Certainly for less than the cost of a GPU good enough to run Starfield (a 150 quid AMD 6600M). And the Xbox-S, sold for very little, runs Starfield quite well.

You're an idiot. CD Project Red did EXACTLY THIS after fans told them of the issue. It is absolutely doable. Literally. PHYSICALLY DOABLE. Not a huge lift. Just suck it the f*#@ up and remove AVX. It does nothing. It adds NOTHING to the game. Nothing. And my CPU that can't play Starfield? Oh, guess what it can play flawlessly? Doom Eternal. Published by Bethesda. Guess how it handles 3D rendering? Decently enough, for how old it is. I'd love faster though. Still gets the job done. Guess how it handles an ENTIRE AD VM environment with domain controller, VPN, multiple hosts, etc? Perfectly fine (even with all the constraints already imposed on it by the host OS). You mean to tell me that AVX is that f*#@ing important? f*#@ no.

You and I are speaking on different levels. Get to my level and then let's talk what's realistic and what is expected of developers. Support is expected of developers. Lack support? f*#@ you. There's literally nothing gained by using AVX that I've seen. Plenty of games either don't use, need it, or have removed it, and they don't miss a single f*#@ing thing. The addition of AVX has added no new features that I know of. It's added no new physics. Nothing new on any content. Nothing new on any visual or audio fidelity. So, what exactly does it add to the gaming experience? Do tell. I'm all ears.

For someone to look me in the eye, and look at the specs of my computer now, and tell me I need to build a brand new computer just to play one game... you're lucky we're not in the same room. Just so f*#@ing vacant you are. The absolute literal thing stopping the .exe from loading is just AVX. That's it. Remove that, and I could play the game on max settings without worry and have a great time playing the game, just like EVERY OTHER f*#@ING GAME. Sorry, but you touched a raw nerve with me on this. I'm REALLY pissed off about this.

You're wrong, Bethesda could just but a verification on the start of the executable:

Has AVX: use it.

Doesn't have AVX: use sofware instead.

DONE.

No harm done to whoever wants and can make use AVX ( i really doubt it would make any difference in the game if they removed it altogether tho)

No, I'm not wrong. I used the Intel SDE to emulate a CPU that HAS AVX instructions... and low and behold the .exe opens. Slow as hell because of emulation, but it works. AVX is a REQUIREMENT for the .exe to even load. At all.

Oh my gosh....you have no idea what you are talking about. Please quit it and if you have no interest in this mod then please leave.

To clarify:

Intel SDE emulates CPU-features....all of them. You can't specify which feature you want to emulate. You just can specify the type of CPU.

So even if your CPU has the feature it will still be emulated by SDE. This is why it is so slow.

You are correct by saying it is a requirement for the binary to load at all....but that's because it was compiled that way. They just need to recompile it with AVX-switch set to FALSE. The AVX-feature is nothing games make use of....especially the CREATION-engine which is also used in Starfield.
