You payIf it's a civilian you can exchange some items he need or just pay for the rescue.If it's a pirate. You pay more or you fight for your life. We already need fuel for the jump drive.... Adding another tank for the main engines would add mass to the ship, which compromises acceleration, and maneuverability.
