[Mod Request] Scanner with Weapon

Would it be possible to change the scanner's behavior to allow us to use weapons while in scan mode (instead of the default automatic switching to the Cutter)? I'd really like to be able to keep my weapon at the ready whilst still highlighting mineral nodes and such.

Yeah, you can hold that big, bulky cutter, but, can't hold a pistol??? Really?

 

I would like to see scopes get something like the 'scanner' effect. :D
