SuperTryptamine
TESoO! Oblivion Multiplayer Project Idea!Possible Logo? So, just an Idea, What if I were to setup a server, a Virtual Dedicated Server per say, that hosted a single world. This single world, would have a Lobby mod that would be a new Selection on the Main Menu!Players can click the Lobby selection, maybe like a lobby mode? menu? idk, something like that.On the menu would be the Server list, one starting off, A general, out of server chat, Which we could host through a Website, something like a MyBB, or WordPress chat, setup through a live API? Players can join the game, We could use the Temple District as a Houseing Area, where Players could donate to the Project to keep a home, that only they can enter, All players would have a live Inventory that would update to the username everytime they join.We could use the market district as a store area, players could setup shops if they Donate?Possibly use the Arena to make Money? Custom Quests for Money?I'm thinking something similar to a software we could host through a VDS similar to a Dedicated Bukkit server for Minecraft Tell me what you guys think? Could this be done? If so, we need a dev team to start this s***, I could start by paying for like.. 4 months for a website and VDS. PM or Comment any Ideas, bump if you think its a good Idea!!!Thanks :D

Lanceor
The reason that no-one has answered is because what you're asking is rather big. Your idea is a good one, but due to limitations of the Oblivion engine, the entire game would practically have to be written from scratch. A *really* good team of modders software developers could possibly make it within a few years, but with Elder Scrolls Online just around the corner, I don't think there'd be much interest. Glitchipedia
Oblivion multiplayer mods have been attempted before. At least one of them proved it was possible, but didn't get far beyond that before the developers ran out of free time and/or interest. If anyone is going to do this, they have to be absolutely dedicated to the idea.

Germandeathkittiez
So is the Oblivion and Skyrim one only supported in that outdated version?
VeroniqueTheVillain
This would be great if it happened, sadly it probably never will. For years there have been topics like these made, posts by people saying there's no reason for such a thing, people whose perspectives they outright disregard wishing there were such features as co-op in existence, and mods that just add basic player support and then stop before they can get to creature syncing or ironing out ctd issues, etc.. yeah, unless someone really takes the time out and dedicates themself to the idea, nothing will come of it. I'd suggest starting from the source code of one of the old ones and going from there. If the creatures and character positions plus stats can be synced, then that's good enough. There'd still be a lot to think about. Quests, for one. Face gen problems. It'd be fantastic if there was support for the boat mods, any mods like Midas, the Under the Dragon heightmaps, and somehow all the quest issues were accounted for. Just have it for two people alone, even, and that'd be the perfect Elder Scrolls game to me. That should be the next Elder Scrolls game, sailing around the ocean country hopping with an optional friend. I personally have no interest in Elder Scrolls online from how it looks, I'd take my farfetched idea over it. If anyone ever gets anywhere with such a project, I suggest they make that creature syncing a priority and not leave it partially finished. nuska
Yeah, this is unfortunately a major pie-in-the-sky thing and would be far from being as simple as hosting a server, plugging it into Oblivion and calling it a day. This would take a team of professional software developers experienced in client and server programming who would also be familiar with the Gamebryo engine, as well as dedicated servers, and would take major changes to Oblivion's source code. Pair that up with the game being as old as it is, having a very limited userbase these days and there being no compensation for the professional devs which would be needed for this, it's just not going to happen.
