Stampede
All this means is that if you decide "I want to explore the northern areas" you don't have to level up first just because the game designer intended the game to be played in a south --> north direction, leveling as you go.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree in that respect. That's what gave the ultima games such a winning formula. When they began restricting the players access, the games flopped. Non-linearity is the cornerstone of any good rpg. ThetaOrionis01
Yeah... but as I recall they didn't take the dragons out of the dungeons if you were a low level player and replace them with fluffy bunnies to make it easier for you. You could explore anywhere you wanted.... but chances were that you wouldn't survive very long if you strayed into the wrong areas....

Meh, nothing a well placed sleeping potion would not cure. Sorry, a bit off topic I know.
Mercbird
I think this will take care off the uber weapon and stat crowd, and some of the most pointless mods ever made. If you want to run around and shoot stuff for points, play a run around and shoot stuff game. There's plenty. I hated that in certain linear, multiplayer so called RPG's you couldnt use a sword because your character didnt have enough "points".Which meant I had to run around and shoot stuff. And the swords were never worth it, and by that time the sheer repetition wore me down to the point of suicide. Frankly, I get bored at the higher levels and sick of the fawning populace. And start a new character. Again. The first time I played Morrowind, I was too scared to leave Balmora (and the Mages Guild after a cliffracer chased me into it) for a long, long time. And then I learned about fireballs...I would hope to experience that exitement/fear again and if this extends that feeling, so much the better. There's nothing I like more than being suprised. If I dont get away from the spoonfeeding, forcefed linear cr.. stuff soon, my brain will turn into foie grass and I will eat it myself. With a nice chianti and fava beans...heh heh heh.
