megadavesupreme
Preface: love Vortex, has been my manager of choice since the beginning and nmm before that, this issue is a first for me... Specifics: I loaded a specific collection for Fallout 4 including https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102 (Bilago's config tool). Since then vortex has given an incessant io error about being unable to access drive D, which makes sense if that's where it's looking for mods, since it is my DVD drive, and not how I set things up, possibly some script from the collection. What I have done: I disabled, uninstalled, purged and eventually uninstalled and deleted both vortex and Fallout 4, prepared to start fresh. Even after reloading everything, the error continues to flash up several times as I close the message, and the message returns multiple times as I attempt to load new mods, with each mod loaded. Keep in mind the mods I load after the fact do indeed work, as I have set the folder in vortex correctly, though it continues to seek a no-longer-installed mod on a drive I didn't set myself for anything. Conclusion so far: I need help from people smarter than me.
showler
Check all the tools in your tools tab on the dashboard. See if any of them is pointing to the wrong drive (three dots at right side, choose edit). I believe this is an uncommon bug where a Collection installs a tool with wrong location information.
megadavesupreme
I presently have no tools installed, not even the one it seems to be looking for. I haven't yet installed bodyslide or the like and, as I said, I deleted everything and started fresh with both Vortex and Fallout 4... And what I have installed since (clicking the x button on the error 30 plus times for each to get through) are all working once they are in. showler
Can you get a screenshot of the error?

megadavesupreme
the screenshot indicates this is a hardware issue only due to the fact that the file is sought in a drive not selected by me and that I would never select, my DVD drive. I think their must be a way to tell vortex to stop looking for this file, and to not look in that drive for any files?...
showler
It's definitely looking for a tool. If you don't have a "tools" applet (and I assume you've scrolled to the bottom to check) try hitting the "customize your dashboard" option in the top right and see if you need to turn it on with the "add dashlet" option. Then check to see if a Fallout 4 Configuration Tool" option exists.
Solution megadavesupreme Posted October 30, 2023 Author Solution Share Posted October 30, 2023 You are correct. While all the other tools that have come and gone are on the applet, this one is the only one that has played the Joker in my Vortex. Thank you, removing it from the list removed the problem. Bodyslide and all the others are still on the list and cause no issues. Interesting... And THANK YOU! SOLVED. Sheepishly saved by simple fix... Doh.
