showler
I still have the F4SE co-saves, but the saves themselves appear to have disappeared entirely. This is a new one on me.
LarannKiar
Couldn't it be caused by a Steam's "sync/cloud saves" feature? Check the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata. I think this is the one where Steam stores synced saves. Edited December 15, 2023 by LarannKiar
showler
Yes! Thank you oh kind and wonderful LarannKiar. I was able to move them back and recover my game. And to you Steam...what the heck was that about? I never have the sync/cloud feature turned on.
Guest deleted34304850
wow! what a find! thank you, LarannKiar for that piece of wisdom, and congratulations Showler, an early xmas present from the cloud-storage gods! do either of you know if this sync/cloud option has been enabled recently by a steam update? showler
Fallout 4 still showed cloud saves as being disabled when I checked. I'm definitely going to remember this for the various "Vortex wiped all my saves" posts that we get in the Vortex support forum.
Guest deleted34304850
i checked my steam settings on the gaming machine and that option is not active. thankfully. by any chance, are you using win11 on your system? my gaming system is stil v10 and i wonder if it may possibly be related to win11 which seems to be more cloud-supportive than win10? just a theory at the minute.
