Sumfoo
Trying to figure out why my controller is not working when playing Skyrim when launched from Vortex. It does work when I launch it without Vortex. It is recognized with Steam. The controller turns off when the game is launched with Vortex. Turns back on when I close the game. I am sure I am missing something silly but it is driving me nuts. Could use some suggestions on where to look. Thank you in advance!
showler
Add the script extender to Steam as a non-steam game and enable controller support for it.
Sumfoo
Do I need to specifically put it in the game files or just have it on the same drive? I did have it but not installed for some reason. I did install it and made sure steam input was enabled. Still having the same problem. Side note... I pulled out my PS4 controller and it actually works with Vortex. My PS5 controller does not. Not sure if that is a Vortex problem or a PS5 controller software problem. So odd. showler
Microsoft controllers are, naturally, natively supported by Windows. PS controllers get support from Steam, and PS5 controller support was added at one point. You might want to check in Steam to see if you have some sort of override on your Steam Skyrim setup. It is possible to set specific controllers for specific games.

Since the 5 has software that needs updating I am assuming it is something between Vortex and that software in the 5's controller that is conflicting. I would get an XBox controller but they are just not comfortable to me. Not a "console war" garbage thing. Just a comfort one. I have tried several times. Thank you for pointing that out though. It is good for anyone that did not already know about that stuff.
showler
The thing is, Vortex doesn't do anything other than call the game launcher or the script extender launcher. Vortex doesn't even have to be running. When you launch without Vortex and it works, are you launching the game launcher or the script extender? What "tool" is the default for Skyrim in the Vortex tool panel?

What "tool" is the default for Skyrim in the Vortex tool panel? Yeah... using the SKSE launcher from Vortex. This is why I am so confused. If I launch Skyrim, FO4 or Starfield from their normal launchers the PS5 controller works. If I launch it from Vortex it shuts off as the game launches. Cant verify Starfield as I have not used mods on it. My PS4 controller does work from the Vortex launch. Which is why I am thinking there has to be something there. I have tried a different PS5 controller and the same issue occurs. Not going to rule out that it is a PS5 controller software issue. Just saying it is the controller or a combination of the two. Was hoping someone that uses the same controller could verify it or explain to me what I am doing wrong.
