How to narratively justify becoming thane of a hold, then back-stabbing the Jarl of that hold through the civil war quest?

Legacy of the Dragonborn recommends becoming thane of every hold before you do either the civil war quest or main questline (up to a certain point in it anyway). However, its hard to justify narratively doing that. I mean, why would you go through the trouble of helping out the city of Riften, doing various side quests to get the people to know you, helping the Jarl bust up a gang, and then side with the empire and overthrow her? Most of the Jarls have this problem. It seems a bit worse for the imperial side though, since it removes far more Jarls that give you collectable items than the stormcloak side does. Ironically, the only hold where this can't possible happen is Windhelm, since you HAVE to complete the civil war questline one way or another before you can become thane!

Coming up with a roleplaying narrative for this mod is quite hard; to 100% complete the museum (which is what I'm trying to do), you have to do every major questline, both the good and 'evil' ones, various quest mods, become thane of every hold then back-stab half of them, you get the idea. Playing a villain makes the most sense, but its hard to justify anyone still trusting your character after you do something like become thane of Markarth then EVICT THE MAN THAT GAVE YOU THE TITLE.

Is there anyway to do this? I'm thinking roleplaying during this mod would be impossible due to the sheer diversity of stuff you have to do, but I can't help but try it anyway.

On a side note, I've thought about maybe recording myself doing it and uploading it to youtube. If I'm going to go through THAT much trouble, then why not record it in some way? Besides, it would net me a bit of income in the process, and obviously no one else is doing that. Of course, if I did do it I'd have to be dedicated and do it all in one attempt with no restarts. That would be hard to do given the sheer number of times I've had to restart my game to fix some stability issue. I was planning on iteratively adding the mods for it and doing them before I attempt it all 100%. At least I can know I can run all its mods and complete all its quest mods without having to restart. Yeah, it would sorta be doing it twice, but obviously I would have no need to actually collect every item, and I wouldn't know what I need to collect and whatnot without the mod anyway.

Your character could be neutral on the civil war in the beginning while they are going around helping each of the towns and cities.  Sometime after obtaining thane status, your character has surely seen how the people across the land live, work and what they believe.  Your character then decides if joining one side or the other would help to improve the lives of the people.  If you allow sufficient time to pass between earning the thane position and your change in viewpoint regarding the civil war, it would be seen less as a backstab and more as a divergence of opinions over time that led to an inevitable clash.
