Starfield not enabled on Vortex, after downloading Starfield extension it can't find Starfield to install it... and.... "delete masterlist file" in Fallout 4 and Vegas

(W-10, Steam) Haven't played games via Vortex or otherwise in a few months but everything is updated. Haven't done any major hardware or other wise updates.

I Downloaded Starfield a few weeks ago and decided to check Vortex if Starfield was supported and it's not listed and can't find any instance of it via the search button. I had Vortex download the Starfield Extension but it can't find Starfield in Vortex to install. It keeps wanting to install it into whatever is in the active game que to be played next.

Also at the same time....

I did have a problem with Fallout 4 not finding the saves and opening into a 12 x 12 inch window but over the last 3 hours I finally got them to work. I have no idea how I did it. Steam did download 1 file each in Fallout 4 and 'Vegas when I "verified" the games. But still gives the errors. Games did seem to run ok when I tried them.

The problem I'm also having is both Fallouts give the "....delete the master list if still having problems"  error when Vortex checks the files when changing games. The "Details" show --"Network connect was not permitted, please check your firewall settings". Vortex did download and update one of my Fallout mods and it's own Starfield Extension so I know it can download stuff.

In Windows I turned off "Secure Folder management" or whatever it was called and reset the Firewall settings back to the defaults (and restarted) and it still gives the error.

The other error is:

Things i tried for the  Bethesda games:

Looking at a similar problem in the forums for "failed to update masterlist", I finally figured out how to add LOOT app to-- Firewall & Network protection-->Allow an app thru firewall-- "LOOT.exe"  (only allowed the .exe and not the folder) -

-Still get the  "failed to update masterlist" network error on all the Besthesda games and both the "masterlist" AND the "master-/userlist" errors only on these three---OldSkyrim, SkyrimSE and Fout4.

Also I noticed I only have 77 games in the Unmanaged area and i've seen on youtube etc. some have over 200 listed if that makes a different. I seem to have the same 9 games in my managed area.

I just use Defender and and I've disabled both the firewall and defender and they still don't up date. At least I think I got them to turn off.  That's funny because I did not see Vortex in the list of bypassed app listed when I did LOOT. Maybe I'll list Vortex and see what happens.

Ok Thanks, at least you narrowed it down for me.  I'll keep digging in there. There must be a setting I buggered when I originally turned "Folder Manager" on. What a pain that was using that. Another mod mentioned to turn it on.

I somehow got it to work now....So everything seems to be working.

.... Sometime playing around with the Firewall Network crap I did get the rest of the 281 Un-managed games to show up instead of the 77 I had so that's a start. And Starfield did show up also and the extension loaded fine. The extension wouldn't work without Starfield showing in the unmanaged area. But still couldn't get the Bethesda game warnings to stop.

Well, this is a pickle, I just read Vortex has LOOT built in so linking Loot to the Firewall, etc. does nothing. And yeah still didn't work. So any network errors for the "masterlist" warnings which is the LOOT part is actually Vortex so you have to set Vortex for all the Network/Firewall bypass's, etc.

OK, so I gave up and played Starfield (no mods yet) for a few hours then went to bed and let the 'puter sleep. Woke up this morning and and all the Bethesdas games now load into the que mode with no warnings. I did have the Notification window in the corner of the desktop say that some files were blocked by the Firewall. (they were the old ones from the day before) The only setting that was still off was "Private network"--> "Defender Firewall" (I guess I forgot to turn it back on with the others).  I also had restarted Windows and Vortex multiple times during all of this so, whatever. And I did have every Notification setting set to on but I still didn't get any.

 Go figure.....
