363rdChemicalCompany
Please give us more details and be as as specific as possible. What do you mean "back to your laptop"? You "moved" the game between computers? There is no need for that you can download on both. Or what do you mean?
Gomperthemodder
so i have a ssd for extra storage for my games since my computer has like 237 gbs and i had low storage so i decieded to move my modded fo4 into my ssd but then i tried vortex and it said i couldnt do hardlink for some reason and when i switched it back to my main storage i couldnt open fallout 4 anymore so i did a fresh reinstall and nothing happened all of this was done on my laptop btw

363rdChemicalCompany
Looks like vortex access to your fiels has not been reestablished properly. technically you can run it from any drive it there is risk. Without being in fron of your computer I cannot make any good reocmmendations. except uninstall, and then reinstall. That should recreate your fucntionality. For sure there is a much easier way but again its diffcult to figure out online. (keep your savegames but make sure game is otherwise compleyely uninstalled beofre reinstall)

Karna5
Swapping hard drives for Fallout 4 is a super difficult task. I had my Fallout 4 drive die a few months ago, and I had well over 600 mods installed which I had to move to a new drive. The main thing I figured out (the hard way) is that there were three directories I needed to reconfigure in my mod manager: a) where I want the mods to be installed, and b) the location of the game installation, and c) the virtual directory used by the mod manager. I had a ton of difficulty with this until I finally figured out all those directories need to be on the same drive. So, for instance, if my old drive was D, and my new drive was E, I needed everything related to those configurations to be the E drive, no exceptions. If I didn't do that, Windows security kept preventing files from being copied properly and was making symbolic links which was not sufficient for the mods to work correctly. I don't use Vortex (I use Nexus Mod Manager), but as the issue I ran into was a Windows security problem, I think it's safe for you to assume you need to make sure everything for your Fallout 4 mods and game should be on the same drive. Save game files, obviously, can be on any drive. They're not related to mods.

Gomperthemodder
im just gonna delete all my mods and reinstall them when the new update comes out since a new update means all mods need to be updated and some that i use are no longer updated so ill just do that
