Memory issues with Windows 11

So I'm not sure if it's a memory leak or something else but I've been working on installing 2 big collections for BG3 and I keep having to restart my computer during the process because it is using increasingly more memory as it runs. I have 32gb of ram and after a couple hours of downloading/installing its maxed out when I return to it and causing all kinds of problems. I just started it up again and in the time it took to write this my memory usage went from 7gb to 14 with nothing major running aside from vortex and chrome. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to resolve this or if you need any more details.

Vortex does tend to use a lot of memory during a Collection install, this is pretty much unavoidable. If it's not maxing out your hardware it's nothing to worry about though.

My main concern is even after closing vortex the memory doesn't clear. The memory stays used up with whatever it loses track of.

That's a bit odd. Does your task manager still say Vortex is using it? We're already aware of a minor memory leak from LSLib (used in BG3 modding) that we'll be addressing in a future update.

If Vortex is closed you can also close any Vortex/LSLib processes manually if they stick around.

No. From what I can remember, I couldn't see any associated application. If there is already a known memory leak from LSLib would that show up during download/install of mods? I haven't noticed any signs of a leak while playing BG3 but that could just be from the amount of memory I have an not playing long enough to notice.

Hi there!

We optimized the BG3 extension quite extensively over the past 2 weeks - but unfortunately we cannot release the update until 1.11.X is in beta (hopefully next week)

Will let you know once it's out so you can test the optimizations.
