tsardonix
I would be interested in a mod that will allow a user to change their ship id (Much Like the Shipboard IFF systems of today. ) or something in this realm. There is no way these hostiles can id you as soon as you jump into orbit. especially seeing you can use shielded cargo and use the multifrequency jammer to "hide" cargo. you should be able to hide (may not be the best verb) your ship. Or reverse it, I just stole a Va'ruun ship then jump to Jemison no one bats an eye. this could be the first ship in an invasion force entering orbit or landing. Authorities: k cool move along. Similar to this, getting attacked by some UC (or other faction) from like 3/4s of a mile away is a little unrealistic just as you exit the ship. I should be able to hide in plain site by changing my armor or appearance. I get the immersion part of it: hey known criminal landed. oh is it actually them or was the ship taken from them. also changing ships should have an impact on this. much like landing in Jemison the first time and the tech asks where Barret is or even before that when the pirate asks did you steal the ship or what. NPCs should have no idea who you are from any distance. like Skyrim. you usually have to walk up to a guard for them to recognize you. (still a stretch unless every guard has an Eidetic Memory) I'm currently using tdetect to do this but i shouldn't need to. realism (immersion if you will) i activate tdetect while in a spacesuit or hiding my face. also works in space before flying into a system contraband scan is a positive i can then be ID as a criminal in question then i turn it off. also if i blow someone away wearing a spacesuit and i think i should be investigated by the local popo then i deactivate it. (ie was i really seen by someone or was it just a bird) the instant hostility it a little sketch. Developers seem to have no idea what line of sight is or how it should work. but at least the game doesn't randomly spawn in 500 aggressive enemy's as soon as you crime. (Cough cd projekt red cough) Might also be related (its a stretch to be in an IFF request). Why do other ships get to Grav jump in combat but we cannot. (you can if you don't switch to the map to jump. sometimes i just don't have a poi queued up to do this but if this is the answer then its the answer.) you're in combat you can't.... so!! Reroute power to your grav drive, open the star map, pick another system, jump out. You can't fly to another location in the same system, because that isn't grav jumping, but you can totally jump OUT of system while in combat. HeyYou
You can also land....... Though I think it would be fun to have a chance that any of the ships you were in combat with also land, and send ground forces after you.
