Mod permissions question...

Assets, in this context, refers to models, scripts, textures, sounds, etc.

It sounds to me like you're contradicting yourself.

I asked what can I make mods for within the confines of the permissions, What can I get away with?

You said "NOTHING" and then quoted Cannot use any part of the mod without permission.

That doesn't leave any room for interpretation.

Now you're saying I CAN access parts of the mod?

Well, until a more clear ruling is made, I'm not going to risk it and get myself banned.

Thanks for the... help.

Because "get away with" implies doing something wrong.  Going outside the rules simply because you didn't get a response.

If you don't break the rules, how would there be a problem?

The bottom line is permission. If you don't have it, don't upload. That's clear, right?

Permission is about empathy. If you dont have it you do what you like.

If you respect other peoples work get in contact with them. Build a team.

Ask them for permission. Most people give them anyway IF you just ask.

Its all about communication.

Well, it's not "all about communication" if the original author no longer responds to messages about their mods.  But it is about respect.

Just because it's sad that a mod might become outdated and unusable due to not being updated doesn't mean that you have the right to update it.

Indeed. I'm stuck in that limbo at the moment with two outstanding requests for asset usage permission within my Thieves Manor mod. So, I may be destined to just play it myself.

Yes that is true.
