Fallout 4 update, hiding a paid mods agenda?

Context  : Fallout TV series aired, very successful, which has made Fallout 4 trendy again, Fallout 4 is currently outselling their newest title Starfield by a 10 vs 1 ratio.

In this context Bethesda released an update for Fallout 4.

As anticipated it has broken thousands free mods that were not updated for half a decade now and likely will never be updated. And there is no way Bethesda could be unaware of this.

Do you think this is an intended move by Bethesda to push their paid mods agenda? They even included a free mod, seems like a sneaky way to fool us into believing they delivered more content when in reality this update destroyed thousands content mods.

Not this update.  Not any of the previous updates.

Just...no.

Not least of which because it was announced around a year and a half ago, so hard to tie in to a successful TV series.
