[Solved] Bulk deleting certain records from plugin

Recommended Posts

Question. Is there an easy way to bulk delete certain records from a plugin in XE? Let's say I want to delete all placed wax candles from the ENB Lights Overhaul. I obv. know the type and the names of the records but there are several hundreds of them. I tried applying the "find records" script but it doesn't work for some reason.

Is the only way to do it manually?

1. Select the base form of the object (e.g. WaxCandle04 [STAT:0002FA27] ), and we can see the [Reference By ("some number") ] block at the bottom right side.

2. Click the reference block and we can get a record  list of all reference edits that use the base form.

3. Ctrl or Shift select all the references you want to delete, and right click -> remove.

4. You may want to have a check for potential null form errors.

5. Never forget to backup your original plugin.

Thanks for the reply. I don't seem to understand, though; when I select the base form, either by search or just selecting it there is no Reference By block at the bottom right side? Tried checking in settings if it was hidden for some reason but didn't find anything.

At the bottom of the right side window are a group of tabs that read...|View|Messages|Information|What's New|

If you select an object a new tab will appear between View and Messages that reads..|Referenced By (##)|

For some reason I missed it before but now it all checks out. Thanks, both of you. This will be extremely helpful.

My apologies. I should have made it more clear by uploading a screen shot.
