Can't set Difficulty

I keep going into gameplay and moving the difficulty to expert. When I open it again it's back at novice. This happens immediately.

If you're using a Steam or GOG version of Skyrim SE, maybe try the Quest Journal Fix for SkyUI (which, among other things, incorporates the earlier Difficulty Persistence Fix).

I found this mod that fixed it:

Now I need one that makes it so escape puts me at the system menu instead of the quest menu.

Try Stay at the System Page NG ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/76927 ).  The NG means that you have to install the proper version of Address Library in combination with the matching SKSE for your Skyrim Version.

That mod also worked and they both helped a lot. Why when Beth "fixes" their games do they add a bunch more glitches?
