I managed a pizzeria in metro detroit for several years in the late 1980s, so I've made countless thousands of pizzas including for myself however I wanted them. But I think my favorite pizza I made for myself was as follows:

Bake a large round pizza with ham and extra cheese (blend of mozzarella and tuma), thin crust under the cheese and maybe 3/4 inch high crust along the rim to just short of well done where the cheese is browning and the crust has spots of dark brown and perfect crispiness and a spongy interior.

When the pizza is done, remove it from the oven, butter the crust, and spread a layer of mayonnaise over the cheese. Finely chop iceberg lettuce into thin strips and sprinkle it over the mayonnaise. Slice fresh tomatoes and place them over the lettuce.

I used to call that a Slim Jim pizza. It's warm and filling while being light and refreshing at the same time.

Edit: I just realized I didn't elaborate on part of the recipe. I did not use pizza sauce when baking the pizza. That would have ruined the flavor.

I cook blind (can't even see the water in the pot), so with years of practice I'm good at judging how much to put in the pot. Before I got used to it I put my hand in boiling water by accident more than once (which hurts for a day or two, particularly in the knuckle joints, but isn't permanently harmful).

The last meal was:

  • Put about 2 1/2 inches of water in a medium sized pot.
  • Add about half a cup of peas and half a cup of potato shavings and one teaspoon of seasoning.
  • Bring it to a boil.
  • Put around two thumb's thickness of 10-12 minute spaghetti in pot and let it cook five minutes.
  • [edit: lower heat to fast simmer after adding the noodles]
  • Add a packet of knor alfredo noodles, the seven minute type.
  • Prepare a large bowl with butter (the salted type, at least half a stick's worth or 1 1/2 heaping table spoons depending on the butter I'm using)
  • Add 1 or 2 slices of white american cheese on top of the butter.
  • At the end of the twelve minutes (total after adding the first noodles) transfer the food into the large bowl over the butter and cheese.
  • Stir until it's all melted together.
  • Take a moment to feed a few strings of spaghetti to my cats at my feet meowing eagerly for some
  • Add two or three heaping teaspoons of grated parmesan cheese to the bowl and stir it together
  • Eat, sharing with my cats until they've had enough.
  • Wash dishes and pot and wipe the counters and sink

I had a tuna sandwich might sound odd but it's what I had. 🙂

That's kind of vague *laughs* What do you mean by tuna sandwich?

  • Do you use mayonnaise or miracle whip or oil or nothing?
  • What type of tuna?
  • Do you chop up any vegetables into it?
  • What type of bread and how thick?
  • How much tuna per sandwich (thickness)
  • Do you toast the bread, or is it fresh?
  • Do you add cheese, and if so, what type?
  • Do you add condiments?

*Laughs*
