Vortex update 1.12.0 borked all my LOOT metadata!

Update - the fix for the filtering issue has been committed a few hours ago https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/extension-plugin-management/commit/7f5e044d101083ad0183dd0552e6e23112c5a2ec

But unfortunately the hotfix release has been pushed to tomorrow morning as we had to make sure the sorting mechanism is functioning as expected (which it is, aside from some parsing issues for Starfield which are still ongoing)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, was really hoping to release it today.

FYI - one way to get rid of the metadata message is to assign it to a group. 'Default' would do. That way even though the LOOT masterlist doesn't have metadata for your plugins, your userlist _will_ and the message will go away.

If you turn off auto-sorting in Vortex and then exit Vortex, you can run Loot externally and it will sort without those metadata messages popping up. Then you can start Vortex again, leave auto-sort off, and start your game as normal, and that should work. Hope that helps.

what concerns me in your reply however is your statement that almost all groups changed to default, 1.12.0 has no userlist (grouping information) enhancements in place and should have never caused any of the groups to change to default; are you certain that change occurred as part of the update?

I don't understand enough about LOOT to know what 'default' means, i've never really worried about LOOT and pretty much left that up to vortex auto sorting.

However as I am now again trying to rebuild a mod list that works  for the umpteenth time (I've yet to find a stable collection) and did notice there are default and default groups if that means anything?

before I nuked my last attempt I did notice iirc that all of the plugins with the message where 'default' (can't remember if all bold or italic), I have no idea what this all means but I've provided a screenshot regardless incase it helps.

Now I hope that 'concerns me' is nothing to worry about, I have enough to deal with trying to figure out a long standing issue where mods keep 'emptying' their contents, stating they're redundant, then notifying me these 'redundant' mods are missing so I have to keep reinstalling them, it seems very hit or miss when it wants to work. I am sure this is an unrelated matter as I can't seem to correlate any relation to the topic at hand...I think? 🤔

Here's the screenshot, The mods I am installing are fresh installs from fresh downloads directly from Nexus to vortex, so this can't be a case of a corrupted zip, old file, old data or anything of that sort, it can be a mod I have never ever used before and it still gives the 'No metadata' message and the 'default' group thingy.

I don't know what other info would be useful to help narrow it down if it is indeed causing concern, game and mods are all staged on the same external SSD, the game with mods still works (mod issues aside) and if it weren't for the message itself I don't know if anything is actually different as I don't know what the group 'default' thing is or if its a new thing, I just assumed it was always like that (making them 'default' group) until these messages.

I did go into the Manage Groups in the top bar and try revering to defaults to see if that made any difference but it didn't seem to do anything.

The bold default is when either user or collection has locally applied its group assignment (previously in another group or at least moved), vs standard default assigned by LOOT - which doesn't necessarily dictate whether or not said plugin would have any preexisting metadata via masterlist. Also, plugin metadata is retained in userlist.yaml and persists even if uninstalled, etc. Can reset from Vortex UI

Or wipe metadata directly in Roaming/Vortex/<game>/userlist.yaml

Hey @imprimis432,

The 'concerns me' message was directed at LeapInL which suggested that his assigned groups (manually selected) had been reset to their default values as part of the update. As vortexposer stated; Vortex has mechanisms in place to maintain the assigned groups even through Vortex uninstallation, and that piece of functionality hasn't changed in years which is why I found it odd that he may have went through that.

I see nothing wrong in the snippets you sent - as you can see, the plugins which have a manually selected group (the bold ones) no longer show the "no metadata message", while some of the others that have the default LOOT assigned groups (italic, slightly faded) have it.

Again, this is a purely cosmetic feature and if the message is displayed, it simply means that there is no metadata to sort by, which is expected for most plugins, ESPECIALLY newer ones that have yet to be added to the masterlist.

Good afternoon.  As of today Friday, 5:47 PM EST, this problem remains it would seem.  Reading through this thread, the Hotfix was to have been implemented yesterday?  That said, I still see the dozens of "No LOOT Meta Data...." messages as I scan through my LOOT table of Plug Ins.  Do you have a new update on when we can expect this issue to be addressed?  Please advise.

**UPDATE:  I mis-spoke when I said "dozens"... I have 630 Mods loaded for Skyrim SE, and every 2nd or 3rd Plug In has that message in the LOOT table. So, literally HUNDREDS of those Plug Ins affected.  And... no... these are not "new" Plug Ins with no Meta Data added yet; this was a stable Mod List that is effectively 4+ months old.  LOOT table was pretty clean.  Until after the Update.

As of this morning, my Vortex LOOT list for Skyrim SE still shows HUNDREDS of Plug Ins missing Metadata in the LOOT table.  A solution had been posted by a STAFF Member named NAGEV that instructed Users to (if I had understood it correctly) manually update each Plug In by setting it to the DEFAULT group.  NAGEV also stated that a Hot Fix was set to be launched by Thursday.  As of today, Saturday 8.10.2024, I have not seen any updates come across (if I am mistaken, shame on me - please let me know where to find, thank you).

In my case, the Mods and related Plug Ins were not new:  They all had associated Meta Data and my LOOT Table was in clean working order before this last update.  As for the solution of changing each Plug In's group to "Default", I am not certain how I would go about doing so, except by manually assigning each one.  As I have literally HUNDREDS of impacted Plug Ins, this does not seem to be a reasonable solution.

If someone could kindly provide an update regarding the Hotfix, or provide an alternate solution in the mean time, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you.
