I think my steam account is having problems at this point because I've logged in on two different computers and it just seems to think that Skyrim SE hasn't had any updates since 2022. So I can't update my game and it's stuck in a version that's incompatible with some core mods. I think at this point I'll just have to play vanilla until Steam sorts itself out or maybe even just make a new account or something. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can also leave it in Program Files, but change your Skyrim Special Edition folder's permissions to "Full Control" (right-click on the folder > Properties > Security tab > Advanced button). I did that on my old Windows 7 PC, since it was easier than moving my Steam install. (These days I'm on Linux, and have my Steam games installed where file/folder permissions aren't a problem.) Yes - I uninstalled Skyrim SE, then deleted each folder for Skyrim on my computer, rebooted, then reinstalled. After I reinstalled, I moved my Steam library to a new folder on my C drive, then once I did that I hit verify integrity of game files. I did not try moving just SkyrimSE.exe or SkyrimSELauncher.exe out of any folders on their own. I might try that next and see what happens. Hmm, are you sure it's still running an old version? What version does it say if you go to right-click > Properties on SkyrimSE.exe? And what versions of Skyrim and SKSE are in the Esc menu in game? Just checked properties on SkyrimSE.exe and it looks like it did update. Weird how it doesn't say anything at all about it in Steam though.
