Mods to unlock Kickstarter backer exclusive content - is this allowed?

I want to ask this because, going through the rules, I couldn't really find anything specifically about this.

I made a mod for a game to unlock certain items that are meant to be exclusive to people who backed it's Kickstarter campaign. The items are all present in the base game files and fully functional, but just not accessible in the game by default. I made a mod that simply adds them to an in game shop where the player can buy them.

I would like to share it with the community, but want to be absolutely certain it does not violate the terms of use. Any help is very deeply appreciated!

I would ask for permission from the publisher/devs.  If it is an older game, they might be cool with it.  Otherwise, it is the same as stealing.

Generally, we don't allow mods like this without explicit permission from the developers, but it is case-by-case.
