Pellape
Hello old friends. I do miss ye. I did play some Oblivion during the summer, no modding though, so when I did, I should have dropped by and say hello really. Better late than Never. I play Fallout now. Starfield? SUX, what a crap game Fallout 4? Extremely fun but it crash so much, I flushed it now. Fallout 3? Extremely stable and fun. (based on oblivion) Fallout new Vegas: Maybe the best Fallout game ever made. (based on oblivion) I went to 3D school last year, was a top student among the best class our teacher had have in 20 years, he claimed, well maybe he say that to every class? Have I become a better 3D modeller? Well yes and no. Yes when it comes to making compositions, no when it comes to create models in Blender as I done that since 2005. Well see your self and be honest. I went into the wall last December and lost all interest in 3D, but I did make some for F4. Right now, I hate making 3D, but that might change a nice day, later on. What I did learn was color compositions and light settings, to be able to make something to look as realistic as possible. I live in Volvo-town, and I met the 3D boss at Volvo, and as far as I know, I am the only one he made an offer to. I did ask my closest classmates, and they did say, that he did not offer them anything, just looked at their stuff. I did make this Volvo to impress him, nothing else, no doubt, as I do not like that model really, as it is both cool and also ugly. I did not tell him that. He did like everything at my Portfolio and asked me about how i had made every item in it. We also debated Unreal, something Volvo will never use he said.  I do mention helpful modders still, like Qarl (RIP 2011), my old mentor, Canadian ice which is the only modder that I have in my FB, and she is cool and also maybe the one that started making the skimpy stuff in Morrowind, long before better bodies came out. These days everyone makes skimpy stuff and it is hard to find good looking no skimpy stuff. I also mention @DrakeTheDragon, our moderator, time to time as he sure knows how Oblivion works and I will never forget that he did solve this frustrating mess for me in the legacy of the Champion mod. I was expecting to see a lot of paintings in my own fence, but they where added later: Good i did publish my frames at Nexus, or they had been gone forever. Why Fallout? That's a good question as I have always been very skeptic against Fallout, as I love TES since 1996 but honestly, after I have been playing TES for almost 30 years, Fallout is a cool break and MUCH much better than I had expected. F3 and FNV also use the same engine and script language as oblivion and xobse is ported to both of those games, so I really feel that I have full control in those 2 games. I hate Papyrus and I did try to learn Papyrus and I did make 2 Skyrim mods, with papyrus, not that I know , what i did still as the Skyrim community at nexus helped me and I am still not more wiser about Papyrus, and honestly it SUX. Oblivion scripting? I feel i have full control in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and fallout New Vegas and I can manage to make whatever I want in those games + Morrowind for sure. I did play each TES game for at least 2 years, Starfield a month and I even bought a new Graphic card, a Nvidia 3080 for €150 to be able to play it, but now I cannot make it work, so I use my old 760 and that is enough for oblivion, FNV and F3 and I can see no difference in those games between those cards really and FPS is top nox with my new computer anyway as these 3 games demand a lot of CPU power and less GPU. F4 demands the 3080 card and it crashes more and more the bigger the save file gets. I did restart that game 8 times until I gave it up. I did post my char in the screeny thread not long ago, but it does not hurt to drool, seeing her again.  I am modding FNV and F3 now. Made a VIP in both the F3 and FNV forums and the F3 VIP has most content.  Instead of making a big bloody house with 60 quests, as I did for oblivion, I do have a nice house in F3 and FNV as well, the same author for both, same design, I focus at the game content and game play and made a comp0anion for both games that is loaded with quests and content, which I guess not many companions really has. Instead of just demand the player to go here and there and everywhere, he tags along the player and help the player doing the dirty work, if the player wants it, as they can just tell him to FO and Go Away. I do like that companion more and more. Damn, up until now, I never had any male companions, only females. I did apply for voice actors a couple of days ago, and if I get a female one, I make him female or i do the bloody voice acting myself, which I did for Oblivion 2006-2010 and i did play theater between 1987-1995 so I can do it, I guess. Here we meet the brat Butch, which is a vital part in my story and involving Butch, gave me a lot of laughing moments and that is rare for sure. Working with different character types is so extremely fun, to build something new, see them grow during the process. I worked on the F3 mod during the last week and today I will work on the FNV mod. I do like to watch Butch. When we first meet him in F3, he is a pure ass against the player but later he is pissed that the GOAT made him into a hairdresser, as he see himself as a barber.  Can we join him? Yes if we have neutral karma, but we can also with positive karma, if you treat him good in my quests. Bad karma? Nope. I never go for bad karma, as that is not my style and it interests me nada. You can kill everyone if you want to really. I do not. Why am I here and not typing at the Fallout forums? Well they are dead and I do not get any respons about anything I type and players with problems do not get help. I saw that this forum is alive still and as I just helped a FNV player with their issues, I started to think about you oblivion nerds here. Honestly, if you ever need a break from Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas is the obvious choice. I did watch the Amazon Fallout TV-series last summer and I loved them and it is rare that a TV-series based on a game gets good but I also loved the WOW film, no doubt. I do wonder when a TV-series will be made based on the Elder Scrolls and Tamriel? I have been thinking about this many times. Which era, which part of Tamriel will it be based on and which race will be in focus? Well honestly, the Imperials and maybe even Sanct Alesia? The Fallout series is maybe the best series I have seen. Another thing I do miss is the responses at forums these days. Me, Alien Slof, Qarl, Canadian Ice, NeilV among others like Exnen and Bab, used to type stuff daily at the forums between 2004-2010. I also made stuff for other modders, like shoes for Bab and other stuff you will find if you search for pekkape, pek, pekka or pekkape01. Well there is other media like Reddit and FB today, but they also lack the knowledge about modding there or do not give a sh't about it, just play the games and that is okay as well really. Well you know how it is I guess? Qarl did solve a lot of sh't for us 2006, like Invalidation, the separation of the mods, about how to make normals, and best of all, he taught me 3D and inspired me to start making 3D. First i used his models he made and put them I game in Morrowind. Unfortunataly all out stuff is gone as we did not upload it to nexus, but elsewhere. Qarl is most famous for his Oblivion textures. Let us listen to what Alien Slof had to say about modding and also about Qarl. She told me of Qarl's departure 2011 in the ESO forum, in a PM there as I did ask her about him 2020 as i wanted to contact him. He did never see Skyrim and i sure wonder what wonders he would had made there for sure. He was a pioneer.    You do use his techniques here still, even if you know it or not. What about Skyrim? Just peek at my Skyrim char, as that say it all.  Only one male companion? I did forgot about Indigo, best companion ever made for any game. I also did get permission to port that armor I am using in Skyrim to oblivion Edited November 1 by Pellape
Pellape
When Skyrim came out 2011-11-11, it was a bloody crash mess, or became a crash mess by the mods back then only made with Xedit. The CK was released 2012. Skyrim SE is extremely stable. I want to take a deeper dive into oblivion, F3 and FNV and compare them, as we sure can do that. Oblivion It has beautiful landscape, good looking cities. Ugly NPC, well all 3 games have ugly NPC but we can do something about it in oblivion but not much in F3 and FNV but everyone is good looking in F4. Skyrim NPC, do remind to much of the ugly NPC that came with Morrowind Oblivion have 5 types of dungeons as I recall right now and has 175 dungeon cells if I recall right, 60 of them was not quest related, which I did change. A few quests per city, 4 big factions or guilds rather Caves Mines Sewers Forts Ruins 2 new types was introduced with DLC I do not need to say more as you know it by now, do you not? Fallout 3 and FNV Caves, not as big as in Ob, but more good looking Subways Sewers, looks better than the Oblivion ones, more realistic Buildings, loads of different sorts, internal that is Vaults Utility tunnels between subways Plazas and loads of city cells as most cities are divided into smaller separate cells. Mainly 1 big city in each game. small villages outside the main cities as F3 takes place in Washington D.C and FMV in Las Vegas, F4 in Boston Still many of these cells lacks quest content and that is what I am trying to change now, as I cannot find mods that adds content to them Fallout DLC's adds Huge spacestation with aliens Fight battles in Alaska before the nuclear war, in a simulator Another big casino town, you cannot escape from until you solve the mysteries. So damn well made. I did play this last weekend Isles Amusement parks... Each casino in New Vegas has its own special faction owning it and they are all different, so you cannot deal with them all in the same way, and that makes FNV to really be the best game Bethesda ever produced, if you ask me, as they did not make it as it was made by Obsidian, which did employ game makers from Fallout 1 and 2, so these guys knew Fallout by heart. Fallout 3 is not bad in any ways but it lack a lot of stuff that we have in obse as the F3 variant is called fose but the nvse has it all, xnvse even, and I really look forward to code some xnvse later, as there is more plugins to it than there is for Oblivion and F3, which give us more possibilities in making cool stuff than we ever can dream on. My obse knowledge is worth gold in FNV, as it is the same commands. Weapon animations and possibility to mod weapons in game is not present in F3 but we have plenty of possibilities with this in FNV and the crafting system is extremely good in FNV and with mods, we can use all junk we find, reusing them into pure resources, that we can use to make proper stuff with. Junk is extremely useful in both FNV and F4 but useless in F3 and Oblivion as well. In F4, we reuse all juks building up communities and the mod SS2, Sim Settlemets 2 is the best mod I have ever seen but it is a shame it also demands a lot of your computer and is also part of F4 crashes. SS2 has maybe 100 quests or more. I think 50 voice actors where involved making it. I think you can build approx 25 villages/settlements or similar in F4, compared to 3 houses in Skyrim. I love the 40-60's deigns used in Fallout, the humor around it, the round forms. With mods it is possible to add stuff that was not destroyed in the nuclear war, but the Fallout players are in majority a bunch of purists and dislike if we add fancy stuff, as the more broken something is, the more will a pure Fallout player like it. My settlements was not liked by the majority as they did look to clean for their taste, or they di not wanna endorse them, to not look like none purists. A village/settlement, built in game by myself in F4. I think it took me 15 hours to build this one It is a shame we cannot do this in the older games, but honestly, I am tired of building settlements and then have to start all over after the game crashed so much it was impossibe to playt it. We as players do become leaders ober the whole world more or less in the end. We have all powers. Is that really realistic?   We become dictators no matter if we like it or not. What about the enemies and quests? Well the quests a reall great really, none is boring. I loved all the MQ so far and I like F3 MQ best, FNV and F4 was most boring. The better graphics, the more boring is the games it seems. Gunners F4 Ghouls Feral Ghouls Raiders Deathclaws Giant insects and spiders Mole Rats Crabs, yes Bethesda loves crabs in all forms Aliens Super Mutants loads of different animals Roman soldiers in Caesars army FNV Talon Company - They take jobs not even the raiders dare to do. Enclave FNV The California Republic FNV Mr House robot armies FNV More robots Well kill anyone you like as not many are essential, not even the original Companions. We can nuke anything and everything we like. We can waste everything and if that is what you want to do, only you and Yes man will remain. Everyone else will die. Your choice. I could not find a suitable linkable picture. press this link for the original https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Yes_Man Yes man is your best friend, well that is what he wants you to think, be warned.  Edited November 2 by Pellape
Pellape
I so recall I did count and checked all Oblivion dungeons at the TEs-Wiki - Mybe they wher 120-130. I do not remember honestly. Why did Yes man wanted you to take over the world and why did he not do it himsef? Is he your slave or are you his slave?   Does it matter when it is only you 2 left? Nuking every world space is only possible with mods a s far as I know, evil damn fun mods too. How does the mod community do? New mods comes out still for all Fallout games, every day, so there is no limits at all about what you can do. Why do I talk about Fallout in an Oblivion forum? Well, honestly, why not? You might like to test it if you are as skeptic as I was, as it sure took me many years to try it out and I did not test it until a year ago first. What is your own view and experience of Fallout or TES as well? I alo foubnd the Oblivion community to be great. I used to love being here 2020-2022, typing my infamous walls of text. Lets try to have a dialogue, as I am tired of writing monologues at the Fallout forums. The most popular game in the world, with quit players and modders, that have a boring community if you ask me. I love a good chat and debate. Well I can also go to Reddit, read and type no sense, but still it lacks any substance and rarely interest me all. I am a game developer, well rather a modder and I do require some substance in a dialogue but we shall never forget, we must have fun every day, as today, you are a day closer for your last breath.  I do have my own ideas, unique ideas, unique solutions as well and we thank the obse team for making that possible. So how does a day at reddit looks like for me? So many type their frustrations there, with their problems to get stuff working. So it ends up I support them as I mostly can solve their sh't as I am also a computer technician and I do think many here recall how many I did help a few years ago, but I am also tired of helping others constantly but I cannot resist doing it if someone is in need of help. Damn, if your game does not work, how fun is that? Not much else is so frustrating for a game player than a broken game. Today I really got sad, when I found a 1 month old post at the F3 nexus forum, about someone in need of help and no one had reply, not a single soul, well I did. I could not guess what the issue was, but I gave the player the same answer we always did and done here, how to solve your own sh't. At least someone could have made a similar answer really. That was depressing. Why do I care? I do not know but I can only see into myself if I get into the same position and I need help. We used to have specialists here at this specific forum and maybe there are still.  I might find that out soon, do I not? How would I have solved my own problems with Oblivion, because of my crazy ideas, without the help of DraketheDragon as one example? Well honestly, I would not have solved it. Not a single chance in hell I had. Edited November 2 by Pellape
RomanR
Hello Pellape. Well, unaswered topics have simple explanation - there's no one to give qualified answer anymore. Oblivion or Fallout 3 aren't a hot thing now and so many people just moved to next hot one (mostly Skyrim and beyond) or leaved for another reasons. And if they return back, they often realize how much they forgot (Bethesda games aren't for complete beginners regarding modding and you must be active for years to learn about their odds and niches). The rest are often specializing in some areas (I'm mostly scripter for example) and so they feel they can't give an answer which poster wants. So such topics will have zero replies and this will propably happen more and more. Regarding Drake the Dragon - I quite miss that guy too. He's absent over a year and I feel that's something odd about it. He's not answering comments in his mods and he didn't logged over a year. This doesn't match his behavior, I hope that something bad didn't fall on him.
Pellape
@RomanRWe could try to just send him a PM honestly, and I just did, should pop up in his email.  Nice to see that you are still around as well, but you are right. If I get any issues in F3, I ask them in the FNV forum as the chance is bigger that it will get answered there, but still, it was in the FNV forum that I did see that mess. And it is of course extremely hard to say which mod is causing issues, when there are so many and the players do have different setups. I never forget when I installed Oblivion 2000, how much issues I had the first week, mixing mods that looked nice, but made the game corrupt and unplayable, causing crashes. Now I do know what types of mods that maybe will cause issues. So if I see any of those, I think: Will I really need that one? My mod lists for F3 and FNV are tiny and maybe that is why everything there works so great. If I did not had so much issues with F4, maybe I would still play it? But honestly, I like F3 and FNV a bit better and that did surprise me. During the summer, I also did notice that my house mod did crash at the exterior and I think it did as well before I got tired of Oblivion 2022. I should take a peek at it. I do bet there is a script there that did not compile, so I do suspect that all I need to do is to recompile all scripts in the garden, something that crossed my mind a few weeks back. Corrupt Nifs could be an issue too, but usually they do not cause an entire cell corrupt. One way could also be to just remove every script in that cell for test. I was a bit worried too that my 60 scripted quests would not run smoothly, but they did, without a single issue. So what is your thoughts about Fallout? Are you as skeptic as I was or did you play them? Did you see the TV-series? I also did remember our dialogues about scripting. I also have had a on going dialogue with Maskar in PM for the 3 last years and he is still active. He do need some aid with weight painting in a model, but as I did got burned out with 3D, I have not peeked at it yet. Maskar is not much for chitchat. So debating with him, require we stay on topic. His nice scripts are pure art and I have never seen anything like it ever. Edited November 2 by Pellape
Pellape
I did try to learn how to make plugins for the F4 SS2 but it is extremely complex. Modding F4 and Skyrim is not my thing and I only get frustrated doing it. The main author of SS2, kinggath did make the Bethesda modding school, which is extremely pedagogic and made in a nice way, that no one should fail with Skyrim or F4 modding, still, it is to advanced for my taste. making mods should be fun and also easy. I could had made a similar companion for F4 or Skyrim really and maybe I do one day? Do take a peek at his videos if you ever wanna try it. Most of the stuff he shows are basic but I do not wanna make basic stuff.  This guy is not only among the best modders there is, but he is also very social and make interview videos and play-throu videos every week. I am so amazed. I did spend many hours watching his videos, mostly his social videos. The modding community did make over 550 plugins for his base mod. In this interview, he have a chat with his most popular voice actors, the 2 star actors in SS2 and it did had plenty of viewers when it was sent live. They did do it to collect charity for different projects and kinggath do that often, charity videos for specific topics and he do manage to get a lot of money when he is doing it. He was also asked at one point if he would become a pro game developer and he said no as then he would loose the joy of making what he want to make and that is true. Jake do follow the players progress through the whole SS2 play-throu and it has approx 50 different voice actors, so these 2 are pro, no doubt.  If you for some odd reason ever wanna try to mod Skyrim or F4, you now have a good mod tutorial series to peek at. I tried Fallout 1 due the legendary status of these series, but I couldn't get into it much. Too tough for me and a fact there was a time limit (100 days to get a water chip) made me quit in the end. I don't like time limits in general, so I quit many games due it (like Daggerfall and many others). I'm not much a gamer but at least I can hack games on 8-bit and 16-bit consoles (there are also databases of addresses for lives, time etc. to save time, but mostly for SD cart solutions featuring cheat capabilities or emulators). Moksha8088
Hey Pellape, saw your kind post on the Post Your Best Screenshots thread and this one. It is nice to be caught up on your achievements. Wishing you continued success and enjoyment. Bummer that the 3080 card has not worked out for you!  It is nice that you bring news of the other more recent Bethesda games to Oblivion. Fallout 3 was the first Bethesda game I played and my appreciation for first-person role-playing games took off from there. Spent many hours playing Fallout New Vegas, and Willow was my favorite companion in the Mojave Desert. She is a good equivalent to Vilja in Oblivion and Skyrim. There is something so charming about singing female companions! Sorry to hear about your crashes with Fallout 4. Mostly it seems to revolve around mod conflicts and load order. My current game has been down since Steam downloaded the latest update. I've been hoping my youngest son can find the time to stop by and fix that for me. Until then I play Skyrim when I can find the time. Love your new artwork in your characters for FO4 and Skyrim, as well as all the rest.

AndalayBay
We do miss the old Bethesda forums. It was much easier to get help and chat with folks. Discord sucks for trying to have proper discussions and help people. I actually just discovered that I owned Fallout 4! My PC died in 2015 and it was a good year or so before I was able to cobble a new one together and then I got busy modding Oblivion. So no Steam and my library got infested with the dedicated servers for games that you don't even own... Anyway I finally cleaned up the mess and discovered several games that I didn't know I owned, including FO4. I've been playing it for a month or so now and am enjoying it. I've actually found the next gen update to be quite stable. I'm not using a lot of mods mind you. I never got into Papyrus either. It seems to me to be a poor attempt at OO programming. Mind you, java was never my cup of tea either, even though I'm an OO programmer. It is more powerful, so I guess it would take more commitment to learn. I played the original Skyrim and found it lacking so I've never gotten back to it. Morrowind was the best for the story and it's been downhill since.
