RLTheCoolStudios
I'm creating a mod where the NCR has taken over Hopeville. After all, why would the NCR—the most powerful faction in Fallout—leave this major route in ruins? In my mod, Hopeville is rebuilt and filled with NCR flags and equipment and npc, even inside the buildings it's rebuilt. I'm making this mod to focus on NCR gameplay, so no more Khans, the Tox, or the Omertas. With other great mods like Claim the Mojave, the NCR becomes extremely present in the Mojave. I also recommend having Ulysses dead at the end, based on your preference. So, do you think my mod can be canon ? Thanks You Edited November 4 by RLTheCoolStudios
Pellape
I love the idea. I did wanted to make something like that 2012 already, in Skyrim, in the area north of Riften at that mine, where the spider quest is, long before Bethesda did release that "build it your self DLC". In 2020, there where plenty of similar mods, all very fun to play really. I did made a WIP, before I did flush Skyrim, as it was so damn bugged back then. Skyrim CK did not make sense to me either. Oblivion did. FNV and Oblivion is almost the same when you edit them. Settlements in F4 are fun also, well to start with at least? I am bored of it now. I am sure just standard FNV scripting is needed as well, during the quest, disable broken stuff, and enable repaired stuff but I guess most players do use nvse and also JIP, which makes life easier for the modder. I also think it should be very easy to make as well really. Just ask questions if you get stuck or need any help or advises. I am making my own quest mod at the moment. I also like team work, which mostly makes me to work harder, as I am a lazy f'ck. Modding is not always fun... Making new ideas is and testing the limits is fun, mostly. GECK facegen do not like nvse or JIP or something... I made a separate thread about how to solve it, if you would run into that problem a few days ago. It is known since Oblivion, well maybe obse is causing it? IDK?? I do think you need a couple of NPC, new citizens, new settlers, more settlers, to make that city/village alive again, maybe, IDK?? It all depends on your goals and visions. I do suggest you make a [WIP] thread and maybe this is your WIP thread? I sure want to follow your progress with this. Here is my WIP. WIP = Work In Progress. You do not need to type as much as I do, just type what you want really as that is up to you of course. A warning though: If you make landscape edits, any other mod for those cells, may cause conflicts and issues, override your edit, so avoid editing the landscape if you can, otherwise, include in your Description, that this mod must put at the end of the players mod list. Well maybe it need to be in the end no matter what. I did edit the landscape in my big Oblivion mod, in an area I took for myself and so did some other modder's as well, so the player must make a choice, to use my stuff or the other modder's stuff as you cannot combine them or it will look extremely odd. A mod like this will conflict with every other edit in that cell, but do not let that stop you. Just do it. I have tested how to add stuff in places with scripting, not touching the cells, still, this is not a solution for a mod like this. Adding temporary stuff, like my and Maskar's ways of doing it, is great. I did learn this from Maskar, that made the latest Oblivion Overhaul, how to make changes, that will not cause conflicts. Is it easy? No way. Should it be easy? I like challenges and I also like result and stability. When you have some functions made, you can always reuse them later, mostly. Make your own library. His scripts is the most advanced scripts I have ever seen in these older games and he is still doing it, for Oblivion, as I PM him time to time. Well I am sure you can keep this simple honestly. One thing for sure: FNV, F3 and Oblivion are much easier to mod than F4 and Skyrim. Getting fast and nice results is very easy, really. RLTheCoolStudios
It's very interesting, but it doesn't really tell me if it's lore friendly or canon for you.
Pellape
@RLTheCoolStudiosDid I ever talked about Lore? I do think i did focus at game mechanisms and GECK, well still, it sounds like a cool project. Am I lore friendly? Well in fallout, mostly not. I am not a purist for sure, which it seems a majority of the players is. Did I break lore in Oblivion or Morrowind, well I do not think I did. Fallout 4? Yes I did. Skyrim? Cheat mods, based on magic, make life a bit easier. Was it easy? No way. I did reread your question, and yes, I would love to see you do this. Lore friendly? Hard to say. I do not mind rebuilding stuff at all as that makes sense doing it. If you do it so it looks like new, that is fine by me as well. The only thing that would stop human progress is if it was dangerous. Look at London and berlin, completely wiped out 1945, rebuilt fast. I do recall when I was in Dresden, as I could not see any old buildings and it all did look very boring. How old is the buildings in Gothenburg? Up to 400 years old. But New Vegas? Well not that old, which also will make it easier to focus at one style of buildings. Do you plan to make new models or just use assets? So what after it has been rebuilt? New stories, or does it end there? I do recall I wanted more stories in the cities that was rebuilt in Skyrim. If there is no more quests there, I just move on. So what if I get odd ideas? I cannot sleep if I do not make them really. Edited November 9 by Pellape
Pellape
@RLTheCoolStudiosHonestly. If you want an honest answer, well try Reddit or FB even. https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/ https://www.reddit.com/r/fnv/?rdt=55401 https://www.reddit.com/r/falloutnewvegas/ I sure got honest answers when I did post my settlement designs there and I am extremely tired of building them really. Sure it goes fast in game, but still, there is funnier things to do. Specially in the Fallout 4 settlements Reddit. They dislike my designs and they dislike SS2. Lore friendly? Yes and no. The 2 first designs is from the Institute but also the prewar Stuff at the 2 last screenies. Do I like them? Yes and I can also argue that it is not against the lore, as our main char do know how to build prewar stuff. Do they do it alone? No way they do. They point and tell the Setlers, build this stuff there. They draw a picture and here is the result. Still they compain... We have to few beds, we have nothing to do. I am starving. -Well do something about it, stop whining to my char about it. Damn... Something do smell odd at this village. Big buildings, lots of open space, do not require as much materials as many small buildings do and that is a heavy argument why my settlements are built this way. It is economic. Does the settlers go happy here? Would you be happy living like this? I did live like that during my military service 1985. Exactly like tha even. Economic? Yes for sure. It makes sense. Prewar stuff. My designs. Edited November 9 by Pellape

Can it be canon? no, only the rights holder and their contractors can create canon but it would fit in with it.

After all, why would the NCR—the most powerful faction in Fallout—leave this major route in ruins? It's a problem with time. Hopeville was destroyed recently (compared to Courier's arrival) and NCR being too focus on Mojave to spend effort to scavenge this area and rebuild it. So with time, it would be rebuilt again, for sure and certain. After all, it has LOTS of loots awaiting, so that's a major consideration to build a little town to support NCR scavengers. It's also a second way into Mojave, with the way through Outpost being too crowded as it is. So 2nd motive to rebuild it. Unless NCR has some other emergency that divert their resources (like their capital being nuked, for example), it's just a matter of years until Hopeville rebuilt.
Pellape
@laclongquan@RLTheCoolStudios @JimboUK It is all about priority. How important is that spot for NCR? They might wanna use their resources there and rebuild the first thing they do after the victory at Hover Dam? One thing for sure, this should not start before the MQ is over and NCR won. Do I wanna see loads of small houses? Well NCR should keep it as simple as they can to make roof over the settlers heads, keep them dry in the rainy desert. Well warm at least during the cold desert nights and cold during the hot days. AC is vital for sure. Lots of Gecko meat, vegetables and water as well, corn or potatoes. Dirt is also vital, not just sand and watering plants. There is water down below. In the reality, the Arabs are now drying out the ground water level in US, right as we speak. It is not mentioned in this video, but they own a lot of land in US desert, drying out the whole US in the process. Those areas are forbidden for filmmakers to visit or photograph. Private areas. The south west NCR base is built in this way, simple and effective. Can we make this in game? Yes for sure and honestly we should as well. Are they really drying out US? Slowly killing it? Yes, the groundwater level get lower for each year and fast from a geologic perspective. Does anyone notice it and talks about it? No everyone is now focusing in the upcoming civil conflict and no one really cares nor can do anything to save that country or its 250 million citizens. US is doomed. Does the current president know about this? I doubt it and I doubt he cares. What if she won? IDK... I doubt that as well really, How would the law react if she tried? How would the other side react if she would take this fight? No ones know. Edited November 10 by Pellape
Pellape
So what about Hover Dam and the great lakes in RL? It will take ages to empty the Great Lakes, well right now it is. The lakes do aid with refilling the ground water, but is it enough? How fast is it possible to empty one gigantic lake? It can go extremely fast. The fourth biggest lake in the world, well it was at one point. Will the great lakes go the same way? Well not as fast for sure. Does it matter for FNV? Not directly but we sure can make a story that fits the bill or the reality. The water MUST come from somewhere. Plants and animals require water on earth. A lot of water. Does our cells in animals require water? No, not in theory, we produce water but must fill up our water level anyway, as we waste more water than we produce, to clean our bodies from waste products. Plants? Yes, water is vital part of a plants cell and chemistry to be able to make sugar. As short and brief as possible: Animals use oxygen o2 and sugar + minerals, which is carbon based energy. We waste and also produce CO2 and H2O, cardonoxide and water Plants use sun energy + CO2 + minerals, waste and produce sugar and Oxygen O2. The sugar is also used as a reserved in crises situations. Specially when there is no sun. I love watching the chemical process in the green cells, chlorophyll, that is and the knowledge is very new as well and it gave those scientists a Nobel Price not long ago. But so damn impressive. How did that occur billions of years ago? No one knows. We can only analyze and watch the current process and trace it back in time. What happens to the minerals? Well nothing really, as they are just help molecules in the chemical processes. Catalyzer's. I did send this video to my biological teacher, and she ignored it, played Lion King and danced instead in front of the class. Did it make me happy? Well no. Did I laugh? YES as that was funny for sure. She also told me I can become an evolution teacher if I want to, and I did some jobs for my former school as well, guarding tests. She was fun and I love Biology. I am to old to become a Biologic scientist, but I did apply to the University for sure. I do miss 200 points to get in. So I became a 3D artist instead. Damn, why did I not do this when I was younger? Edited November 10 by Pellape
Pellape
Some not relevant thoughts, but when I get thoughts, I must write them down - somewhere... Just hypocrisy anyway... Theories... So if I came in to University, what would had been my goals? Figure out what did happen 3.5 billion years ago, the creation of the first cell. Does not the science know that? Nope, no one does. Will we be able to figure it out? I doubt it. Will AI do it? Not a chance. Speculations yes, but real tests? No way. Or maybe study mushrooms and mycelial as that is fascinating, something that is not a plant nor animal. When I walk in the forest, I always stop and study mushroms as they are all so fascinating and beautiful, well the part that we see is, that only have with reproduction to do as we actually do not see the real mushroom and is it something to see? Well lift a rock or some loose wood and see. Is it fascinating? Not what you see is not for sure or is it? Some threads?? The thing is, to prove a theory, it must be tested in 2 separate labs, by at least 2 separate teams to be water tight, the more independent teams , the better. What is required for a cell to live? Well first of all, you need to know what life really is? Descartes, the Swedish Queen Kristina's personal Catholic teacher said or wrote rather. I am thinking, therefor I am. He died of a cold in the castle 3 crowns during a winter, of a bloody cold? Yes, Lemonia. She was first protestant in a protestant country, and became catholic, resigned and fled with 12 wagons filled with expensive stuff to Paris, and later Rome. She hated Sweden, drunken Swedes, the cold and Protestantism. I am atheist, so I do not really care about that, but it sure had an impact on our history, never the less. She did never drink alcohol so imagine how life must been at the Swedish court back then. So we need some DNA, RNA, hydrogen, aminoacid, fat, water, coal and maybe a lightning or whatever? Have this been tried before? Yes, many times but the thing is, something is missing and my wild guess is cyanide. That is a dangerous poison, well yes it is, still in some circumstances, it can be lifegiving as well. Is this really important to know? No, not really as will we still understand it, if we succeed? All substances are poison in wrong doses. Get to much oxygen and you die and also by to much water. Something funnier is really the development of eyes, that did happen at least 2 times in the evolution and flight 4 times. Insects, lizards, birds and bats. The eye is most fascinating for sure. And the brain. How does that one work? No one knows. Lets end this nonsense with a peek at a simple eye as that is pure magic. What is this relevant to FNV? Not at all... Can we use it in a quest? Not that I can think of really... It is just a fun and fascinating subject, nothing else, something that just crossed my mind... And I was bored...
