JimDirt Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:01 AM (edited) So far I have downloaded 3 mods , none of them have worked , and 2 of them either froze the game while loading and/or gave a Corrupt File error while loading the game and the other flat out didn't work , but at least allowed the game to load , if this site is going to allow people to "MOD" , and then it should have the responsibility of checking to verify they work before posting it , since it seems all topics have to be verified by a Moderator , why don't they reply when a question is directed to them when I am posting a topic/question , like why aren't these files verified they work before allowing them to be downloaded ?? The Mods were : 20 Slots (corrupt File error ) , More Nades (didn't work at all) , and 90 Slots (corrupt file error and froze the game) , I sent Bug Reports for each of the Downloaded Mods , so hopefully that helps , but I just downloaded this game a few days ago , and so far ALL the mods I have downloaded from here (3 of them) have not worked at all and/or locked up the game or prevented it from loading , so not a good average , that 3 random mods all are bad ... This should be addressed , because if this is how the quality control is , there is no point in trying to download anything and support this site .... Highly disappointed so far .. showler Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Thousands of mods per day at times, especially when a new game comes out. It's not possible and no one ever told you such a thing could happen. If you aren't willing to take a chance, only download older mods that other people have checked for you. Hopefully without sounding like a jerk , as that is not my intention ... I never said anyone told me they would check , I am asking that they implement that procedure , or better yet , that anything "untested" should maybe be released as a Beta ONLY , (example: More Nades Mod *Beta*) and only after being proven to actually work (by Beta Testers like ALL games use when developing), and it reaches a pre-determined amount of Positive Reviews (say 100 downloads and 95 of them it worked for) does it then come off the "Beta" mode (More Nades Mod), so it would then be released as a actual proven Mod once it actually is proven it functions like it should , who cares if people release thousands of mods a day if they are not tested first , what have they accomplished then ? , to be called a Hack ?? , just saying , I certainly would not be calling them a "modder" , if that was the case you could just go to Jack in the Box and pick someone and say , "you are now a modder" , that's not how its supposed to work , anyone can pump out mods without caring or checking that they actually work , then this place just becomes a dumping ground for useless garbage because "I'm a modding guy" wants to tell everyone he's a modder , when in fact he's just wasting bandwidth and annoying or letting down people that actually think someone made something cool and worthwhile for a game that the Dev's failed to do I chose 3 random mods , all 3 either did nothing , or crashed the game and/or gave a error before even loading the game completely (2 of the 3 did this) , so what was actually accomplished other than I got frustrated and complained about it (like everyone should instead of just accepting that this is what we get and not say anything until the next guy comes along and says it doesn't work , and then everyone says , "yeah we know they don't work , but were not going to do anything about it because it takes effort" , why support that mentality ?? , that is what happened to MCM Factory for Motocross Madness and MXvsATV Unleashed , there was a ton of tracks that were released that maybe took 5 minutes of effort to make , but that "modder" would pump out 20 of them in a day and spam the site with literal junk that wasted bandwidth and eventually killed the site *it became MCMFactory which also is barely hanging on*) or how about allowing the users (like me) , to put a mark on the download , that it didn't work , then when it gets so many marks (say 10 out of 15 downloads) , then its removed from the list and the "modder" needs to address the complaint issues until they either work , then put it back in rotation or he dumps it and its not put back in rotation because it obviously doesn't work , but since the persons that made the Mods haven't responded in this topic or to my 3 complaints to the specific modders who made them , I am assuming nothing will be done to "fix" it , since the only reason I downloaded it was to accomplish what the Mod offered , but it failed to deliver , and everyone seems ok with that ..... With that all said if you made it this far ..... Can you then please direct me to a mod that accomplishes what I was downloading it for , that actually works ?? , (more nades and flashbangs is all I wanted) , because so far I only have 2 of each and to keep from getting blown up constantly from triggered doors , I need to have something to throw at them that will cause the trigger to explode before I try to enter the room , since 98% of my deaths are caused by door explosions , 6 of each would be great , I didn't think it was much to ask , but so far I got 3 duds Thanks for replying though , I appreciate it ..... showler Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:12 PM Looking at those mods it appears the game was updated after the mod was released and the game update broke the mod. It happens. Nothing you suggested could prevent it from happening. Look for mods that indicate they have been updated for whatever the current game version is. LenaWolfBravil Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM @JimDirt- you do realise what mods are, right? They are unsupported modifications for a game that are not guaranteed to work. They are not endorsed by game studios and in some cases are even actively discouraged to use. The moderators of Nexus Mods do not check any mods what so ever. They only provide a platform for people to share their work, but it is down to each individual user to test and verify what they are downloading. When a game is updated by a game studio, mods made for a previous version often stop working. What you can do as a user, is post questions on the mod page itself. Mod authors or other users would often answer your questions and point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the quick reply , I did not check the Version because I just assumed it would be altered/updated to match each version of the game , as I figured it is the Modders responsibility to do so and just figured it would be current , I know I saw some people saying it was updated , but I did not check my version and what the mod said ..... So I will look at the version of my game and see if there is any of the mods I want (basically nades and Flashbangs) and go from there ..... showler
One thing to remember is that many mod authors will create mods for games when they are playing them, but not really keep them up to date if they stop playing the game. They move on to other games. Or real life gets in the way. It's a hobby, not a job. In the vast majority of cases it is something they made for themself while they were interested in that game and decided to share.

Mod authors or other users would often answer your questions and point you in the right direction. Thank you for the reply and explanation ... I do understand they are not supported by the game developers , I would guess mainly because of possible viruses and altering things that would (for Multiplayers) be considered a "cheat" , as I have been playing PC video games since the mid 90's (Novalogic Delta Force series *pretty much all of them*) and was top 10 in the world in most kills in some of them , and was a Beta tester on some games (Joint Ops Escalation) , so I know how most of it works , however I have never tried , nor know the basics of Coding and never claim to be knowledgeable in those things , I have however used mods made for some games before , but always in Singleplayer , since I no longer play Multiplayer in any game I have had several heart attacks and 2 strokes over the last 8 years , and have a Pacemaker , so I try to stay away from the stress that Multiplayer often brings , so I just play by myself for fun anymore , so the mods I chose only had a advantage of being able to blow the trigger of the doors on some of the maps in this game , because that seems to be mostly what causes my deaths in the game and its frustrating because I can't tell what door is triggered and which one isn't , having the extra Nades and/or Flashbangs helps keep my AI teammates alive , as several of them have died as a result of the door triggers as well , or they open the door and get shot to death , because they don't seem to understand to move out of the way when being fired upon by the Hostile AI , and it keeps me alive as well The only way I can currently carry more (about 6) is to basically rid myself of the majority of my Body Armor , which creates its own issue surviving the mission , which so far I have spent 3 days trying to complete because of the stupid door bombs , and I have no clue as to how to detect them , aside from telling my AI teammate to Disable them , since I'm still learning this game , I am not sure of what to look out for and the game itself really does not offer any tips or hints about working around them since it can be any door , and always seems to be several of them triggered , and for some reason standing behind the edge of the door offers no protection and you still die when off to the side , since you have to be close to the door to use the prompts to do anything with it Back on topic , as far as being a User , I did report them as not working at each particular mod , as I had mentioned , but I have not heard anything from the modders to say they will fix it or not , so I have no clue as to what will happen with them , and I didn't want a mod just to have a mod , I wanted them to serve a purpose , because for some reason the Devs don't want you carrying more than a couple which makes no sense if this is supposed to be a "realistic" game , it falls way short on many levels , but at least there are places like this that offer some help , but as you mentioned , it doesn't mean it will do anything However I was unaware that the mods had not been updated to the current version of the game which is what showler mentioned was the issue with the ones I chose , so that's on me for not checking my game , but I was also unaware I needed to , but in the broader sense , I also didn't think it would matter what version anything was , because that would mean , every time the game is updated , then the mod fails , and I end up with the same issue I am currently having , which sucks , since they update these games constantly , and I assumed as mentioned that the "modder" would make sure their mods were current with the game , otherwise they would be uploading the newest version , in a different location , and you would have to look at each one uploaded to find the current version , which would also suck , so there has to be a better solution than just hope the one you download works and was updated to match the game
LenaWolfBravil
Well, it's up to the mod author to update the mods and to write in the description which version they are for. However, modding is a hobby, and mod authors are under no obligation to provide updates or support. People have lives to live, they move on to do something different, then there is no response. Old mods are not removed because there may well be users out there with an old version of the game, and for them those mods would work perfectly.
