vortexposer
Latest stable update completely wiped all my custom categories for every game... Please consider adding local backup function to restore user's custom categories. It is going to take me over 10+ hours to recreate and assign literally 1000s of mods. Won't even let App retrieve Nexus default category. Edited December 2 by vortexposer Mis-typed version number
elpuertorro
Backups have been in Vortex for a while now, I use it all the time. Go to Settings > Workarounds Now scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see a windows titled: Caution and in there you will see 2 buttons, 1 is -Restore (to restore a backup you made) and another -Create Backup, I'm sure you can take it from there. It's always good to check all menus and settings of software we use so we know all the capabilities and also the change logs to see what changed or what was added Have a good day. vortexposer
That doesn't restore, nor backup custom categories. Could be added next to "Retrieve (default) category" Which is also broken by update Edited December 2 by vortexposer
elpuertorro
Wait if you have not done it how do you know it doesn't back it up? a bit odd to state that as a fact when you have not tried it... Also it did erase what you had so you won't be able to backup nor see them now, it should have been before the update. Sorry but well fix it again and now you know once you are done back it up, I myself learned the hard way, but both my backups for steam and GoG skyrim work when I restore All mine are in place minus the new ones I have not assigned from manually added mods and the backup shows it and on the 2nd screenshot, notice the missing category under the line "bugMessage" where it should be as I have not set a category for it and also notice I'm using the newest one as you are v1.13.
vortexposer
Reverting to 1.12.6 restores them, so the only game I ended up losing was the one I tried using "Retrieve categories" on after initial update - which obv cleared my custom categories but either way, making backup on 1.12.6 does not restore functionality of its categories on updated 1.13.1 version. Category UI refuses to recognize pre-existing, restored from backup, retrieve Nexus defaults or any new root/child categories. I don't see why libloot would affect mods tab category? This has nothing to do with LOOT. Edited December 3 by vortexposer
elpuertorro
That is really odd that it worked for me and not you, but hey you have confirmation and it was reproducible so, good catch, good thing you didn't loose it all like I did before I learned about the backup feature. vortexposer
I would assume that since you're only using default Nexus category - that if you open the "Categories" menu tool, yours would be empty too.
MrYaiba
I'm stuck in a constant repeating loop with the Fallout New Vegas extension on Vortex version 1.13.1. When I look at the extension for FNV it says that it has failed to either launch or recognize the extension at all. So I then click on the small tab to bring up the enable and disable option, I choose enable and I get the prompt to restart Vortex to apply settings. After restart I check the FNV extension again and it has gone from failed to disabled so again I click the option again to enable it and restart once more when prompted to do so. Again I check the FNV extension status once more and it goes right back to failed. It just keeps infinitely looping like that over and over and over again for me. What's weird about this is all my other extensions work flawlessly it's just Fallout New Vegas specifically that is having a heart attack with this new update. Nagev
Hello all, @vortexposer the categories have not disappeared, the category list component is having issues displaying them (I'm investigating why) please do not hit the retrieve categories button as that will indeed erase any custom categories you may have created. Stick with 1.12.6 for now - 1.13.2 will fix this issue. @MrYaiba the New Vegas extension now requires the Sanity Checks extension to be installed (it should have downloaded it automatically) but if it's not installed - please download and install it manually into your %appdata%/vortex/plugins folder or by drag and dropping the archive of the extension in the extensions page https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/
Solution Nagev Posted December 3 Solution Share Posted December 3 1.13.2 has been rolled out and will fix both categories and the inability to manage FalloutNV on machines that can't connect to Github
