Honestly I'm surprised I like FO4 as much as I do. Their stories have gotten pretty shallow, but I found FO4 has some good ones. Morrowind was the best in TES for story. Oblivion wasn't bad, but they really cut back on character features, weapons and armour. Skyrim has no story, just cool effects with the dragons and nice graphics.

There are two possibilities here. Either the Degrade was made specifically to break mods (which, of course, it was) and/"or" the dev team deliberately sabotaged the entire business. I know that there's advice to extract and repack with the Castration Kit provided tool but if it was that simple, the ^%*((*^%(*&^%ers could/should have done it themselves.

It's much simpler than that - Wrye Bash hasn't released an update since before the game updated. Just like we learned on the day of the update (all the way back in April), the ba2 archives have a new version number in their file header dats. FO4edit threw a fit over that, so the xedit devs updated it very quickly to fix that.

 

Wrye Bash throws a fit over it, and the developers have still not released an update. It's been eight months at this point. There's no big conspiracy here, it's legitimately just that the tool has not had a released update to resolve the issue. They've actually updated the tool to resolve the version check errors, by the way. But you need to either compile the update yourself or get a development build from their Discord server.

Ok, I'll grab the new build. I'm on a development build, but it's an old one. I've found it works fine, but it'd be nice to get rid of the pop-up.

As I said above, the nightly from Nov 3 just crashes on startup. It looks like Utumno must have found the problem because he released another WIP build two weeks later and it works fine.
