Vortex Changing Files Outside Vortex

Changing a plugin to light in vortex is seen as an external change and will throw that window up...eventually. yes, eventually. NEVER right then, but later  Can be a bit confusing. Running Seedit and changing anything will throw it up. Yes, I know both of these are IN VORTEX, but Vortex does not see it as that way. Also, when it says X is modified outside, CLICK view files, and it may give you a better grasp of what happened and why

Just to be clear, I'm not blaming Vortex.  I've used it for the past 4 years with no issue until recently.  I understand that in 99% of cases, issues with mods and mod managers are user error.  However, this is something I'm unable to fix... I went through the Vortex documentation before posting here and was unable to find anything relating to my problem.  Looking through several Reddit posts, it seems that MO2 is pretty bullet proof comparatively so... while I'm not looking forward to migrating and learning a new MM, it seems right now like my best option to enjoy my games without having to worry about this.

I've never had to ESLify anything as I'm still under the ESP-ESM limit and when I make changes in xEdit, I always deploy my mods right away to try to keep things organized.  I do appreciate the suggestion though!

@BrotherShamusI hope that my comment wasn't taken as some kind of insult, just trying to make sure that you did look at the documentation, and for others who come across this thread.  I hope that you find some resolution quickly, I know how frustrating this stuff is...

Not at all!  I really do appreciate that people take the time to try to help.  I think my reaction probably came across as more pointed than I had intended.  As it stands, I'll still be using Vortex until I play out my current Skyrim and FO4 builds so maybe I find my solution in the meantime.  If so, I'll definitely post it here in case someone else runs into the same issue.

Try to capture a specific example of one of these external changes that doesn't add up and log as much detail as possible.

As you previously mentioned, there's fairly low chance of it being critical Vortex bug vs something else, simple or complex.
Which can hopefully be reasoned out and worked around - as I have yet to meet an external change that can't be resolved.
