But that requires the user to accept that what they are seeing is not correct (instead of assuming it's some bizarre choice that Nexus Mods made and won't fix) and then communicating with the staff at Nexus Mods (in the Site Support forum is probably best) so that the cause can be determined and a solution found. If you just say "not my job" then what do you expect them to do? Come to your house and start checking to see what browser you are using and what extensions you have installed and whether or not you installed any of the site modification scripts that have been posted in this thread? Finding the problem is collaborative. The user reported it here as what they thought was a bad design choice. They were informed that it should work - by Nexus staff. The user confirmed their assertion that it's not. At this point the user is absolutely correct, it's not their job to work it out and Nexus are aware that it's impacting this user. The rest is strawman nonsense. The user could have posted a thread elsewhere, but at the same time at no point has the user or anyone asked Nexus to go above and beyond. 2
WeirdWeird2
All the negativity aside, I say things are starting to look up. No more empty space at the top and no more collections section on the main. All we need now is to horizontally expand the narrow claustrophobic mod tiles and restore the 7 hotfiles. You can even make hotfiles more than 7 with all the extra space on the sides. Keep up the good work

Isguros
Since we're doing a "give me your top 3 gripes about the ongoing changes" thing, I'll give you mine as elaborately and detailed as possibly/required (this is in no means what's most important to be improved, but rather a personal opinion piece from my own (limited) experience of using this site): 1) Browsing new and updated mods - Continuing to browse past the first page on the Home page sends you to the Mods page Whereas before you could keep browsing on the Home page for seemingly as long as you'd like, now you're being redirected to the Mods page whenever you click the 'View more >' button; making switching categories after you've sufficiently browsed the current category annoying, a hassle... It's just a shame that something as convenient as it was before, now requires you to make multiple inputs and load different pages - Poor integration of the Home page results into the Mods pages results When you click on the 'View more >' button, and are directed to the Mods page, the first 16 mods are ones you've already seen on the Home page, making the page only have 4 new mods. So whenever you - Style changes between the Home page and Mods page The Home page being seemingly hard locked in having only 4 columns per row, whereas the Mods page adjusts the number of columns to your resolution, giving someone with a 1920x1080 resolution 5 columns or 6 without the filters being shown. 2) Search - Quick search making it so you can't view the page you're currently on anymore Whenever I need to search for something, it usually means that I don't know what it is I'm looking for, or where I can find it. This is especially the case whenever I used the Quick search feature: I see something mentioned that didn't have a link, write it in the search bar, check if I spelled it correctly, and double check to see if I missed something (if the results didn't meet my expectations). Now that kind of convenient integration is gone, since clicking on the search bar basically opens up a new page altogether. - Search results page All search categories get just a single row of results: first 6 Mods, then Games, etc.. No tabs to switch, just scrolling down. Want to see something that isn't in the top 6 (4 for both Pictures and Videos) You'll have to click on the 'View all >' letters and be directed towards that specific page. Visual changes I'm sure you've heard most of these before, so I'll only expand on some of them (from a 1920x1080 resolution user): - (wasted) vertical space above 'Mods' selection on the Home page. - (wasted) horizonal space between mod tiles (and on the sides of the Home page). - Size of the tiles - Cutting off titles - Vertical misalignment between mod tiles due to the length of the title and/or category. Some titles and mod categories use two rows instead of one. This means that all the other information moves around as well: the name of the author is now where otherwise the category is supposed to be, and so on. - Headache inducing color scheme/contrast Bonus Round: - Implementation time It's been 4 months since the closed beta started - and a month since the open beta ended, and just recently some of the numerous missing features started coming back, and some fairly basic features are still being explored by the staff team, whatever that means? Can we expect everything on that list to be added in the near future, or is it just corpo speak where you can later say "we've explored considering the possibility of bringing this back, but..."? Normally you'd come to expect a nearly finished product when it rolls out of beta (cause that's what the beta is for, right?), but this was anything but. - Purpose of the beta & communication We're closing in on 170 mod comments. A fair amount of them do address some unexpected developments - and bugs, but never any response on the content of the feedback (wasn't this topic once called the UI Overhaul Discussion at some point? Just wondering if I'm misremembering something or not); only to state negative feedback wasn't up to your standards for constructiveness (positive feedback is exempt from that requirement). All this lack of response makes me wonder what the intention of the beta test was, cause it seems like you're hell-bent on not changing a single aspect of the new look, going as far to (mockingly) calling people UX professionals, and saying you're not looking for their input cause you disagree. Even at the beginning of this threat - at the beginning of the open beta, most of the messages here were about the UI design, but none were addressed, and nothing has changed since then. The "this is how it is now." was especially telling. The other messages were all to discredit our concerns and suggestions, saying that with a few more inconvenient actions, you can get almost the same results as you used to; and of course the discredit of the ones that post here as well, saying the negativity towards the changes is just from a handful of complainers here, that there weren't any negative responses on the Feedback page, news pages, or elsewhere. Then, when questions, complaints, and suggestions were coming in over there as well, you kept deleting them, calling it spam, and even shutting down the entire Feedback page... Look, I get it: you're just a cog in the machine that just has to deal with consumers, trying to defend a change they had very little to do with, and may fairly well not agree with either, but in hindsight (and in every other form of sight as well), a lot of this negative outrage could be prevented had you just said something in the lines of "we're continuing working on improving the user interface in order enhance everyone's experience. Your feedback is heard and taken into consideration.". Obviously, just my opinions. P.S.: I never intended to post this much (though it's not exactly 170 messages either). I came here, like at least a couple others, because I was confused that the website suddenly looked incredibly bad, and performed even worse; but now have a lot more questions. I try my best to to as brutally honest as I can be: call a spade a spade, and call out a spade for pretending to be a diamond as well. Though maybe that's not something you want to hear, sometimes a different perspective is needed to get a fresh outlook on things (we can't something, something, echo chamber stuff). Feel free to disagree, but I am not at this time looking for further input from communication professionals. 7
carpesangrea
I was messing around with vortex earlier, and I found myself wishing we could effectively create our own color scheme for the website just like we can with the modding platform. Regardless of how the Nexus team feels about the new layout, such a move would go a long way to regaining at least some measure of goodwill. In all the years I've been using this site, I've barely even looked at the forums until this disaster and watched it grow progressively worse. Congratulations, you've managed to streisand your own disaster.

You shouldn't need to hover at all.
thorkellofjom
I don't remember when I last posted here. I dislike the new design. I don't like all the empty space it has with no way to adjust it. I dislike the sterile way it looks, and the new range of text sizes that the page utilizes for its listings. I don't like that it's harder to navigate now. Why isn't there a page navigation at the top of the page like the old design? It's awful.

casildak
This new UI is really an enshitification of your site. It's so much wasted space. It's just like the new Discord UI--total garbage. I have to zoom my browser out to see more than 4 results. And no, I don't have wasted space because I'm blocking ads. The space around cells is atrocious. Nothing about your site needed to be changed. I liked the previous redesign however many years ago that was (I've been with you since 2007), but this one is VERY VERY bad.
