I NEVER got a POP-UP of a Poll, even on the very first day when the BETA BANNER showed up.
And I check Nexus at least once a day, I keep it open in one of my tabs at all times, because there's a major mod update going on for No Man's Sky.

I, and other people have used that Douglas Adams excerpt about “The plans being on display”, quite a few times, and we always have posted it, whenever they've made a change people don't like, and they always tell us, “THERE WAS A POLL and the Response was overwhelmingly positive”, while a large number of us, end up asking “WHAT POLL?” "WHERE WAS THE POLL?"

Just another thing that HAPPENS.EVERY.TIME.

This is Standard Operating Procedure at this point.

Are you simply dismissing the opinion of anyone who doesn't meet your standard of "web security awareness"?

And, if so, why are you then claiming that the people who answered the poll must have also been giving negative feedback and the Nexus staff are lying about it?

Regardless of your opinion of the poll site, Nexus Mods collected the number of responses they wanted and they say that the majority of those responses were positive.  Either accept that or call them liars to their faces.

Anyway, moving on from the irrelevant argument for the sake of argument by someone who isn't contributing in the slightest to the actual discussions here.

I have a complaint about the new site theme. Why is the site delivering the minimum size icon now? Even the forum is delivering a larger icon than the site does:

No one at NexusMods has said 40% is more than 60%, that's nonsensical. 

Desktop is the focus, as that's where most of the usage comes from. Mobile users account for 40% of the site usage, and so they are also accounted for.

All of the phone users, however, are very likely also desktop users (primarily). So, it is better to say that of all the desktop users, 40% are also using the phone.  It is not a 60-40 ratio.  It is 100% Nexus users using desktop, of which 40% also use the phone.

I agree using the phone is a lot better now, coming from being absolutely atrocious before this change.  However, comparing the 2, it is pretty clear that the desktop UI forums has taken on an odd/poor space usage to completely accommodate the phone, which, as a result, now looks pretty good (the phone) without the bunched-up clutter it once suffered.  Also, to accommodate phones, a lot of empty space has been added greatly benefiting phone presentation, but at the expense of the desktop UI that now looks like an UI that isn't quite finished and polished.  The 3 column forums where the communications section occupies only 40% of the space on the page with the right and left mostly blank black is a glaring example of this.  Humongous user avatars hanging out in the black column void as if they are lost in space--and they are.

This UI is terrible. It didn't need all this makeup when the original layout was fine. Please change it back.

In reality the hotjar powered polls which ran during and after the beta were available to all site users. However once the quota is used up then the poll is no longer available. This of course means only limited conclusions can be drawn from the results, and we are not blind to that.

I've been using ad-blockers for years so I didn't even have a chance to see that there was a poll. Wouldn't it be better to have a week-long (and without limit of overall votes, but one vote per user) poll on discord and put links to it in pinned messages on reddit and the forum? That way there's a better chance that people will actually have a chance to vote and so your data would be more accurate.

I want everyone to think long and hard about the last time company surveys actually disproved the companies time, money, and effort they have already invested into something.
Has it ever happened?
Surveys such as jm are citing do not exist for them to tune things so we like them better, they exist to be pointed at to gaslight users into swallowing something huge and vile enough that it should have been a suppository. They are disingenuous from their very inception. They don't exist to show a truth, but to become a weapon against users.

Has a company ever said: "The surveys indicate we were wrong, and the millions of bucks we spent on this feature turns out to have been wasted. We'll roll it back completely immediately."
No. LOL, no.

This is bunk. No need to continue citing third party surveys that most users never even saw because the host was an advertising agency. No need to carefully massage the "data" from dozens of disparate sources. Literally just post a binary poll on each main site, that isn't from a spammer/advertiser, and thus isn't blocked by 90% of users. A simple 2 axis chart with 2 values can't be abused by the team, so it will never happen.
A simple yes/no vote would have proven to everyone that the users didn't want this change, because the users do not like change. No one likes change at all unless something is already terrible. Unfortunately, people feel they have to earn their place in the team, so they force a change on the users because their art diploma is burning a hole in their pocket, and someone has to suffer for it.
So we get gaslit and lied to and forced to swallow this nonsense, because god forbid a website is not drab, grey, 40% blank spaces, and unusably hideous on both desktop and mobile.

Whatever theory the designers were being taught in school is clearly inhuman in practice; their teachers were probably Vogons.
