capacitatedflux Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) I'm trying to set up my CP2077 modlist on a new computer (Lenovo Legion Go) and I'm having a hard time getting Vortex to recognize what I'm doing. I'm moving the download folder manually from my original computer (where the files are installed and work properly) to avoid redownloading 4.8GB of mods. However, when I try to add them manually to Vortex some (but not all) do not recognize that they were originally downloaded from Nexus, even though they were. The Mod Name shows the file name including extension; those that install correctly do not have this issue. Right-clicking the affected mod does not show the "Show mod on Nexus" option. Thus, when I go to install a collection, Vortex is able to "install" all of the mods based in what I've installed manually, but then freaks out over dependency because Vortex doesn't recognize them as Nexus mods. The "Enabled" list contains every required mod, but the Collection install progress stalls indefinitely at 58% (meaning 42% of the files transferred are having this problem.) CP2077 is fully updated and cleaned (no mods), Vortex is fully updated, and all of the mods I transferred are all updated. I can provide screenshots as needed. I assume metadata isn't transferring properly, but all guides I've seen say it should be as easy as moving the folder from the old computer to the new one. I've tried this process at least 4 times and finally isolated it down to this issue and I'm at my wit's end. What am I doing wrong? Edited January 30 by capacitatedflux
showler Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Does the filename for the mod contain the mod number and file number? If so you should be able to right-click it and get Vortex to query Nexus Mods to get the full information.

It is a pure copy+paste; I haven't changed the name nor have I extracted it or modified the file in any way. Right clicking these affected files doesn't give an option to Query or Open on Nexus.
ChemBoy1 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Are you following the instructions from the wiki? They tell you everything you need to do to move Vortex to a new PC. Did you move the AppData and mod staging folders first? https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/wiki/MODDINGWIKI-Users-General-Moving-Vortex-to-a-new-PC

As I still have the other computer in use, changing the folders to facilitate the move didn't seem to be an option without something breaking. Based on those two points, it seemed that transferring the Profiles would be more hassle than it was worth and simply moving the downloads would suffice - I could work out the reinstallation on the new computer, I just wanted to avoid redownloading everything. The first part of this guide suggests that's possible: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Moving_your_Vortex_Mod_Setup_to_a_new_Computer Edited January 30 by capacitatedflux
showler Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Especially for a Collection transferring the downloaded archives and then reinstalling the Collection is a perfectly valid choice. Is there a chance the Collection version was updated? The file needs to be an exact match or it won't be seen as the same and will be redownloaded. In the downloads tab if you right-click one of the files is the "query info" option missing or greyed out?

In the downloads tab if you right-click one of the files is the "query info" option missing or greyed out? I updated the collection to the latest version ("Welcome to Night City 2.21" rev. 476) on the source computer first, went through every mod that showed more than one version number and deleted the old version+archive, then copied the Download folder. Everything that's in that folder should be fully updated to the current revision. Furthermore, I checked one of the affected mods against a fresh download and it's identical, including the trailing numbers. The downloads tab does show there's something wrong with the metadata, as I suspected. "Query info" is not greyed out, but nothing happens when I click it. "View Meta Data" shows all fields inside blank on the new computer copy, which doesn't make any sense as it's directly copied from the other computer. To verify, I copied the same file from the source computer, which DOES show metadata when I hit "View Meta Data" in Vortex and works, and moved it to the new computer's download folder, and the metadata fields are empty. ChemBoy1 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 All this could be avoided if you copied the Vortex AppData from the old PC according to the instructions.
