First, a while back you posted that you had lost your father.  My condolences.  The death of a loved one is tough.  It takes time to heal the pain.

Second, you want to build a mod…that’s great.  Unfortunately, you are an unknown quantity.  To date, you have published no mods, thus demonstrated zero experience with modding Fallout 4.  Perhaps you should consider making a mod, working through the development process and publishing it before jumping into a major undertaking.  Perhaps something small, like a new settlement in a new worldspace could get you started.  You could design a quest to get the player to that settlement.  You could design one or two NPC characters at the settlement that the player could interact with.  Such a mod will give you valuable experience implement quests, establishing NPC behavior, and dialogues using Fallout 4's Creation Kit.

Third, you toss out a teaser “Enclave versus Brotherhood of Steel mod for Fallout 4” but offer no subsequent details.  Imagining an Enclave versus Brotherhood of Steel mod for Fallout 4 sounds like an exciting clash of ideologies and military prowess! Such a mod would not only expand the Fallout 4 universe but also immerse players in a high-stakes conflict between two of the series' most iconic factions.  Have you thought through what the mod would entail, what level of effort is needed, and most importantly, how much time is needed.

Using something like Microsoft’s AI Copilot, here's a rough outline of what this mod could entail:

Plot & Storyline

  • Opening Conflict: The Enclave has resurfaced, stronger and more determined to reclaim their version of America. The Brotherhood of Steel, sworn protectors of technology and order, stands in their way.
  • Factions: Players can choose to ally with either the Enclave or the Brotherhood, each offering unique quests, perks, and equipment.

Key Missions:

  • Enclave: Reclaim lost technology, establish control over strategic locations, and eliminate Brotherhood strongholds.
  • Brotherhood of Steel: Defend territories, rescue captured comrades, and thwart Enclave schemes.

Characters & Leaders

  • Enclave: Introduce charismatic and ruthless leaders with a vision for a purified America.
  • Brotherhood of Steel: Emphasize seasoned veterans and new recruits ready to lay down their lives to stop the Enclave.

Weapons & Armor

  • Enclave: Advanced power armor, plasma weaponry, and experimental tech.
  • Brotherhood of Steel: Enhanced T-60 power armor, high-caliber weaponry, and vertibird air support.

Locations

  • Enclave Bases: Hidden underground bunkers, repurposed military installations.
  • Brotherhood of Steel Fortresses: Fortified headquarters, technology research labs, and outposts.

Gameplay Features

  • Dynamic Battles: Large-scale skirmishes between Enclave and Brotherhood forces, with the player influencing outcomes.
  • Morality System: Choices that affect your standing with each faction, influencing the game's ending.
  • Unique Rewards: Exclusive items, armor, and weapons based on faction loyalty.

Creating a comprehensive mod like the Enclave versus Brotherhood of Steel would be a significant undertaking. Assuming you have an experienced and dedicated team, here's a breakdown of the major tasks involved and the estimated effort required:

Planning & Design (~2 months)

  • Story & Quest Design: Develop the storyline, quests, and character dialogues.
  • World Design: Plan the new locations, bases, and environments.
  • Asset Requirements: Identify the need for new models, textures, sounds, and animations.

Asset Creation (~4 months)

  • Modeling & Texturing: Create new characters, weapons, armor, and environmental assets.
  • Animations: Develop custom animations for new actions, combat moves, and cutscenes.
  • Sound Design: Record voice lines, create sound effects, and background music.

Implementation (~6 months)

  • Level Design: Build new locations and integrate them into the game world.
  • Scriptwriting: Implement quests, NPC behavior, and dialogues using Fallout 4's Creation Kit.
  • Gameplay Mechanics: Develop and balance new weapons, armor, and faction mechanics.

Testing & Debugging (~3 months)

  • Alpha Testing: Identify and fix major bugs and gameplay issues.
  • Beta Testing: Fine-tune the gameplay, balance, and ensure compatibility with other mods.

Polishing & Release (~2 months)

  • Final Adjustments: Make final tweaks based on feedback from testing phases.

Release & Marketing: Prepare promotional materials, release notes, and manage community engagement.

Total Estimated Time:  ~17+ months

This is a very rough, back of the envelope estimate.  It will vary greatly based on the team's experience, the complexity of the mod, and the amount of content being added. It’s a considerable project, but with dedication and organization, it can definitely be achieved!

I was going to make an enclave vs brotherhood of steel mod but guess I lucked out

Sounds great!

Ideally one could you join either faction?

Maybe it could be .163 game version ("old gen") compatible? 🙂
