Badges?

Hi,

 

i just recieved a notification that i "earned" the "reacting well" badge...Then i noticed that i seem to have some more badges. What are these badges for? Do they have some purpose? Couldn't find any usefull information via search. Some explanation would be much appreciated.

They're just a feature of the new forums.  They were filled in with some relatively appropriate titles, but they don't really mean anything.  It's just stuff like "reacted to x number of posts", "posted x number of posts", "responded to x number of posts" etc.

They're vanity badges that appear on your profile to show how much you've interacted with the community on the forums

I also wondered how I happened to earn the Reacted Well badge, and what does the number inset on the badge mean?

You might have clicked on the lower right side where you can put a "Like" emote for posts on this forum. It only means that you used that feature and now get a notice that you have "learned" to use something that devs want you to use.
