3 new features for Vortex

Hello,

I would like to suggest creating 3 features for Vortex:

1- List mods AND plugins that have been enabled or disabled by time. This helps in debugging CTDs and other problems. For example, the game was functional until 15 minutes ago and now it is giving CTD. When examining what happened 15 minutes ago, it is discovered that mod A was disabled or enabled. It would be a kind of history, log.

2- Allow access to the list of mods and plugins while installing a new mod. This helps to know which patches should be marked in mods that do not have automatic detection.

3- Be able to cancel the installation of a mod in the middle of the process without the current mod being uninstalled. Currently, when you decide to cancel the reinstallation of a mod, the current mod is uninstalled too! If the user does not pay attention to the fact that the mod has been uninstalled without their consent, they may experience problems in the game. It would be great if the mod could be reinstalled or restored automatically when they decide to cancel the reinstallation.

Thank you very much.

I don't believe they are planning any new features for Vortex since the developers have moved on to working on the replacement app.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. It's a shame they abandoned Vortex. It's an excellent app. I have 2700 mods in SkyrimVR and everything is fine.

Vortex is NOT abandoned. There is a full-time developer working on it. They are still adding features. It is up to them if they choose to use their time on a user-suggested feature.

Anyone can contribute to Vortex. It is open source code. If someone adds these features and they are tested and work properly, they would be added.  You can open issues there on the GitHub page with feature suggestions.

Now, on your suggestions specifically:

1 - You can use the History button on the Mods page toolbar to keep track of changes you made.

2 - I assume you are referring to FOMOD installers? This would require a complete rework of the FOMOD installer renderer to open in a new window. You would also have to somehow prevent users making other changes while the FOMOD window is open. This is technically possible, but would be very difficult to implement. As such, it is unlikely to be worked on by the Nexus Mods team.

3 - When you choose to Reinstall a mod, the current installation is Uninstalled. That is how Vortex works. That will not change. You consented to Uninstall the existing mod when you selected the Reinstall option. The first step of Reinstallation is to Uninstall the existing mod.
