I think as much frustration as had been vented of late were there any other issues not covered by Dark0ne in his various articles (as linked earlier in the thread) that he would tell us. it would serve no purpose to not share. Unless you can think of something they they just have not considered as of yet? If so please share!! lol

Currently we are seeing our sites balk at 8500 users all trying to download at the same time. (We currently have almost 6.8 Million users) It's being worked on.

Why do these problems always have to happen on weekends? Well, that's when there are more people trying to download more mods than during the week when a lot of you are in school or at work.

Why can't we be as reliable as Amazon or some other sites? Amazon and those other extremely reliable sites are only there to allow you to give them money for products (profit) - our product (mods) is FREE. And besides that you do not have to pay anything either. Being premium does not get you any more or better mods than the leechers. :confused: They have a dedicated staff of hundreds of paid support people working 24/7 - we have just a very few paid support people that do need to sleep from time to time, They have a support budget of millions - Our budget is somewhat smaller. :rolleyes: They own their servers and back up servers on specially built sites with multiple redundant back up.- We haven't quite made enough millions to build our first dedicated server facility yet ( and probably never will) Instead, we lease from various server companies.

This really sounds like you need a new message then. I understand, but at the same time, this has moved from being an occasional (once or twice a week) issue to multiple times every day and worse on the weekends. I'm glad you're getting so much traffic, indicates interest. But at the same time, seeing the 'down for maintenance' message indicates that someone is working on .... maintenance. Based on your response, that is not the case, it is just heavy traffic.

@mcgoy;

No need to search for Holidays, just read what Dark0ne has written:

Downloading and file serving changes

End of year network review

Still a WIP! :confused:

Woohoo! I managed to get to the messages without getting a 'maintenance' message. The information about what the message says is buried.

As I've said, I think the message is poorly worded. It would have saved frustration if the message had said 'due to high download volume this site is temporarily unavailable. Please be patient while we migrate to new servers'. Something like that would have told me to just walk away and do something else for a while.

I finally got past the message to read the links and then I lost my response because .... drum roll please.... this site is down for maintenance. The message clearly needs to be updated to something like: 'Due to high volumes of downloads this site is temporarily not available. Please be patient while we migrate to new servers' Or something to that effect. Dark0ne's posts primarily talked about downloads - which I wasn't - and the actual error message I am receiving is buried.

It might also be good to provide an update and projected time line for how much longer this will continue.

I think I mentioned it in a recent news post but when we put the sites "down for maintenance" it means we've brought the sites down so that everything can recover. E.g. it got overloaded, we've taken the sites down to unload them, before we let people back on. If we don't do that then the sites would just be permanently down.

As has been mentioned, a permanent fix is on its way. It's crap. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Unfortunately patience is the only thing you can have.
