To be honest, it's good to raise awareness of problems in Africa, but I don't think handing money to governments is the way problems will be resolved. Putting wells in villages without drinking water is good, giving money to governments so the leaders can buy more mercedes for their wives is bad.

Aid teaches people not to do everything themselves, but just wait for help, IMO.

It's a waste of time, trust me. While the motivation is admirable, it will offer little or no improvement to the state of this continent.

 

All it has become is a major PR booster for ignorant twats like Bono who should stick to restoring the standard of music that I used to expect from U2.

if they're not asking for aid or asking for money, and purely 'raising awareness' what the heck is the point? we know africa is pretty terrible, and if we didn't donate then, why the hell should we donate now? what, coz sum easily bought celebs tell us 2 coz they're afraid they won't get their paycheck? SO
