hongshancha534
Now lots of people are buying gil that led to unfair competition.I don't agree to buy gil so that let's stand out to against those website such as www.ige.com,www.sogogame.com,etc.It's said that the amount sold on IGEcomes up more than 100,000 a day.Hard to image that each 1,000,000 gil just sold $19.99 on sogogame.com led to players' satisfaction by buying gil. Morgoth
Are you talking about the currency in Final Fantasy XI or is gil some new kind of drug for hardcore gamers?
Switch
I believe he's talking about FFXI currency. It is crazy what people will pay for fictional money and items. I can see why, but personally I don't think I'd ever be desperate enough to do it. Still, it's their choice... there's not really much you can do, I don't think what they're doing is illegal, just taking advantage of people's obsessions, which is perfectly acceptable in a capitalist society, of course. ;P
Dark0ne
I believe it's written into the game's terms of service that all currency, items, etc, etc, are property of the developer and therefore cannot be sold to other people. EBay have been trying to take down quite a few.
edstamos1
It's pretty bad when people have to resort to this kind of thing. I mean, the point of the game isn't to have the best character and say look at me I'm so awesome. It's a game - PLAY IT. The problem partly has to do with the nature of MMOs though. They are, in fact, quite boring. The only good thing about them is being able to play with lots of different people. Other than that, there's nothing to them. The quests lose there essence and become nothing more than a chore to get a reward. Ultimately, everyone just goes around grinding and farming. These games need to give players more role playing opportunities, and players need to realize that being high level with top equipment and bajillions of gold (or gil or florins, or adena or whatever) is NOT the be-all and end-all of the game. You have no bragging rights unless you put time and effort into the game, and enjoyed it. That's right, if you turned into a monotonous robot grinding and farming to get top equipment and a high level character, you have no bragging rights. Sure the games often have interesting things you can do...with a lvl 50+ character. The worst part is, companies that make these games don't let you make your own server. So if you want to play, you have to play with all the dumbasses. If it's going to be that way, they could at least provide a server for serious players, where dumbassery get's you kicked. Switch
Heheh well that's always the way things go - I went to a roleplaying server on WoW to, oh I dunno... roleplay? Never happens though. About 1 in 25 people actually bother to roleplay at all, so I gave up in the end. I roleplay when I can but I'm usually just greeted by =)s and :Ds and :Ps and "lol"s. In the end all bragging rights go to the person with the shiney Legendary Weapon of Doombringing and full Wrathmaster Armour, regardless of the original intended nature of a server. I suppose that's one reason why some people buy the money to buy the fictional equipment: low self esteem. :P Interesting that it isn't legal. I'm glad it isn't. Still, nothing will be done about it. :P
Morgoth
Which is proof of incredibly bad server administration, if the customer support doesn't even bother to reserve RP servers for actual roleplaying - but that's just my opinion, there'll certainly be enough people who'll say "wtf? me canz sp34k liek i wants on ne survur!!!!1111olololo". Dark0ne
Think of the amount of admins you'd need to admin a RP server for WoW -- 1.5 million players... .. At the moment I'm really enjoying Battlefield 2. It's got some quite major oversights that you'd expect from a game made by EA, but it's great fun to play, with an almost MMO feel to it, what with the frantic squad-based 64 player servers. I'd recommend the game to anyone ;)
