I just started a new game, and was wondering at which point during the main quest playthorugh should I start doing which DLC. (based on stuff like difficulty of enemies, useful items obtained, etc.)

Sorry if this was already posted, I didn't find anything with the search function.

Thanks.

Because you'll be getting power armors from Anchorage and The Pitt, I'd say "any time after you get the power armor training." If you don't like or just don't intend to use the power armor at all, then just whenever. Trogs in the Pitt can be a pain though. Might want to have a fair amount of skillpoints into your favored weapon category, and hitpoints.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the DLC enemies are levelled according to your character. I tried going into Point Lookout at level 22 and level 6, and the swampfolk were noticably less dangerous and resilient.

Personally, I prefer to do Operation: Anchorage later in the game because the loot is quite overpowered.

Personally, now that the 1.6 patch is going... I'd play the main quest through as quickly as you can and play through all the rest of the side quests you didn't complete before the MQ and then do all the side quests and all the DLC's so you have more stuff to look forward too. :)

Messenjah,

Most of the DLC content is only tangentially related to the rest of the game, so it really doesn't matter. However, having poked around Point Lookout a bit, I'd definitely recommend having a fairly powerful character (like gsmanners said, about lvl 16) befor proceeding there because some of the baddies can take multiple shots from the A3-21 Laser Rifle before they went down.

I'd also recommend doing Operation: Anchorage as soon as you can, as you get the Chinese Stealth Armor at the end, and that is the primo choice for a Sneaker/Sniper IMHO.

Additionally, finding the Alien Crash Site and Rivet City will net you two of the best energy weapons quite early in the game if you can make it to both location without too much trouble. The Alien Crash Site would be best to start with as you don't have any quests to finish in order to obtain the weapon. Rivet City will require a bit more detective work.

The Pitt: level 1-5

Anchorage: level 6-9

Broken Steel: level 12-15

Point Lookout: level 20+

this is on the hardest setting, in Broken Steel you use up alot of ammo but you find alot to :)
