ziitch
Recently I've noticed a strange problem with Nexus's main page for Oblivion mods - It seems to be taking a lot more time to load than the other mod main pages, or outright does not load before a server reset. Despite this, directly accessing the images or new mods page (or any page connected to that main page) do not have the same problem. I've logged out and back in, but it has not made a difference. So any idea on what would be causing this, and has anyone else had the same problem?
TheRomans
The various feeds are not loading at all, I just have the background below the line of reed tabs. Been that way for a week.NexusMods: Oblivion pagecurrent Firefox on Wip XP Pro 32bit
DrakeTheDragon
Last time I heard of this people were using the wrong url, the one from NMM.For me http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/? works totally fine right now, and the AJAX components are all loaded in a split second. edit: Just rechecked it again, and indeed on http://nmm.nexusmods.com/oblivion/? none of the AJAX tabs are loading, just as I read it a while ago. TheRomans
It ishttp://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/?that is not working for me.All it get is the top with the navigation bar, then the hot files, and then the line of feed tabs with a preferences link to the right, and nothing loads below that. If I log out and then navigate to the page, the 4 generic tabs (not tracked files or friends) will load, but when I then log on, it back to as above with none of the 6 tabs loading. It is only the Oblivion page. The other pages load fine. I suspect i has something to do with tracked files, because Oblivion is the only one of the games for which I am tracking files. DrakeTheDragon
Hmm, weird indeed... Maybe check your feed selection preferences for the Oblivion page? You can specify further what feeds you want displayed there and in which order or something.Maybe there's some weirdness stored in your profile and when logged out you're back on defaults, thus it works? Dark0ne
In order for us to fix this we need to be able to replicate it. Please do the following: Go to the change password pageChange your password to something elsePM me your new passwordWait for me to look in to the issue with the programmers (could take up to a week). You can still use your account as normal during this time. When I PM you back saying the issue is fixed you can then change your password back to whatever you want This ensures that I don't ever find out your actual password (all passwords are hashed/encrypted to prevent this in the database) for security reasons and allows us to login to your account so we can actually replicate the bug. We won't mess with anything
TheRomans
It is definitely something to do with tracked files. When I reset my preferences to a different feed, then all the other tabs will load, but not tracked files. I am going to do some further experimenting, like untracking files then retracking them to see if that clears it up, and if that does not work, send it to you next week. TheRomans
It does not appear to be browser or cookie related, because it occurs on IE8 and the Current FireFox, two different computers at different locations, but both running win XP pro 32 bit. Both have been logged out and logged back in.I suspect some sort of time out or flood control issue on the tracked files feed, because of the number of files I am tracking, or maybe some sort of corrupted data on one is causing it to hang the feed (I did find one where the last updated date was invalid, giving instead the unix default date of January 1, 1970). I am going to cut down my number of tracked files, putting those unlikely to be updated into a bookmarks folder instead that I will check once a week, and then see if it feeds. If that does not work then I will send it to you next week. Dark0ne
If you fix it yourself then we won't have a way of replicating the issue and actually fixing it for everyone else... :/
ziitch
I think I figured out part of the problem. It's something to do with the load order of the page and the preferences set by the user. From what I found, setting the default homepage feed tab to anything other than Tracked Files works just fine. Otherwise, the result comes from the page taking a long time to load or never loading before the connection resets. So it sounds to me like the fastest hotfix to make right now is to have the AJAX script that manages the tabs and content not trigger until all the other page content loads.
