What am I paying for?

I can't figure out what's going on. I paid a premium fee for NMM and gave up on it, This month I noticed that I was charged on my card again. I don't see the authorization for monthly charges anywhere, I don't see the option to turn them off as well.

Now I decided to give NMM another chance and I launch NMM and it suggests me to go Premium, I am logged on to the Mods website it advises me to go Premium as well! I logged out logged back in, restarted NMM every time I get advised to go Premium. I just got charged few days ago (I just double checked). And I don't understand what did I get charged for. I thought I was paying for ad free browsing and faster downloads, but none of these seem to apply. Furthermore, almost none of the mods have an option to download with manager (is that a premium option too?).

So does every Nexus hub (game) has it's own premium membership ( I looked around and it doesn't appear to be the case)?

Anyway, can someone please look at my account and tell me what's going on and what did my hard earned $4.99 got me :) ?

Send in a Support Ticket by clicking the "Contact Us" option at the bottom of the forum page.

This sort of thing should be resolved by communicating directly with Robin.

If the mods don't have an option to download with manager, it was removed by their authors on purpose. That's the only way for it not to be there.

I had to do this for all my mods when the NMM went mainstream, as none of my mods can be installed with the manager right now. So I know for a fact there are authors doing this, and it won't be without an author having done it.

^^ What Drake said. ^^

For one of my mods, (published here long before there was any NMM) I provided players two versions of the (very small) mod in one .zip file. The Installation Instuctions make clear that the player selects whichever one of the two versions is appropirate for the intended use, extracts that version, and places it in the correct folder.

NMM has no way of knowing which version a player wants to use, so it doesn't install either. That mod is not "NMM-aware / NMM-friendly".

What I am NOT going to do is re-package my mod to play nice with NMM. People are free to use it, or not, "as-is".

As for your Topic-title question: You're "paying" a voluntary contribution to keep the Nexus operating as a free service for all. That's what you're paying for.

No you don't understand. It wasn't a generic question. I actually meant for someone to look at the account and help me find out what service or option I got if any.

Yesterday after spending more time I found out what I paid for. And I don't mean to correct you since you are the moderator. But it's not a contribution but a rather tangible thing called "premium account". And that's what I was hoping to get and when I kept seeing ads telling me to upgrade I started to wonder what did I purchase instead. So in a sense I wanted someone to fix the account or to figure out a mistake as I was charged and my account never went premium.

And this is taking a bit more time then I would like to dedicate, I have no problem continuing the support. But please tell me can I use the mods and NMM without going Premium?

Here's EXACTLY what "Premium Membership is all about, (from the "Go Premium" link on the Nexus homepage):

Premium membership

Premium Membership on the Nexus sites is a way of donating to the upkeep of the sites while also gaining some advantageous perks for your browsing experience both on the sites and within the Nexus Mod Manager. Most importantly, without the support of our Premium Members the Nexus sites would not be able to keep running.

Premium Membership can be bought for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or for a lifetime (lifetime membership will never expire). If your Premium Membership expires your account is automatically moved in to our "Supporter" membership group that continues to offer you some perks including a completely ad free browsing experience on all the Nexus sites. Even if you buy one month of Premium Membership you'll never see an ad on the Nexus sites again. For life!

We support most major forms of payment including credit cards, debit cards and Pay Pal. We don't agree with making you sign up to any sort of recurring payment so the main payment options are all non-recurring meaning you only pay once for the Premium time you'd like to purchase. If you want to add more Premium time you pay again yourself rather than being automatically charged. We do however offer a recurring payment option if you so wish, but you've got to opt-in to it! Lets face it, forcing you to subscribe to a monthly payment if you don't want to is just crappy, so we don't do it.

Premium features

To say thank you to our members who support us we provide Premium Members with an improved experience on both the Nexus sites and within our Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) that normal members cannot access.

That's it.

I don't think it matters what the site says the reality is users are purchasing an enhanced service, if you hand over money and get something in return then it's a purchase not a donation, this is also how the taxman sees things or I wouldn't have had VAT added. Personally I paid up as a way of giving something back but that's not the case for all, in any event when you pay for something you have every right to expect to get what you paid for. That said it's pretty much irrelevant around here as the site is very good when it comes to ensuring people get what they paid for or get their money back.

Indeed, and I think that's the main point here.

I am sorry, I just found the "advantageous perks" description very vague, especially for a newcomer, in fact I was under the impression that I won't be able to get much out of the site and NMM unless I had Premium, there was just too many paragraphs too many descriptions and it was all coming down to what "Supporter" status can't do, so I figured it's a must. Now don't get me wrong thinking I am some unsatisfied customer I just had hard time finding support, no link from my account page not big visible hyperlink or anything, I also assumed all the support is being held through forums.

Now, since I have someone's attention do y'all mind making this post productive and help an old man out by telling me which directory do I dump the downloaded manually mods.

Is it the "Mod Directory" the one where NMM is installed

or the "Game Directory" the one where the game is installed?

Both option appear when clicking settings at the last tab with game's name. Or maybe it doesn't matter and I just point the NMM to the directory the files were downloaded to and it places them in the appropriate folders automatically?

Thanks.
