Sertith
So I'm at the end of the Sierra Madre DLC, and I accidentally read something on a computer I'm not supposed to read. And I didn't save first, because I'm an idiot. I can't exit the area, I can't proceed with the quest. All of the terminals are in security lockdown, the elevators are locked down. There is nothing I can find to let me continue. Is there anything I can do to get past this? I've looked online, and I can't really see anyone else having had made this particular mistake. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TrickyVein
Doesn't it autosave before you enter that area? Pretty sure it does, unless you've disabled it somehow.
JoKelly
if you saved over the auto save, there is not much you can do other than go back to an earlier save and go back through it. Reading the wrong file on the computer locks down the vault and your PC is stuck there. on the other hand you could also download the Deadmoney cheat mod, that will complete the DLC for you. I ended up having to use the mod due to a bug that disabled the elevator you need to escape in, as well as a few other annoying issues at the very end. Good luck

For some reason all I can see when I look at my saves are 2 saves, an auto save and a quick save. Both are after I messed up the quest. if you saved over the auto save, there is not much you can do other than go back to an earlier save and go back through it. cooltrickle
Sounds like you need to use this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45652/? "CASM:NV replaces Fallout: New Vegas' saving system so that you no longer have to rely on only a single autosave or quicksave to fall back on." How does one accidentally overwrite the autosave while being stuck unable to leave one area?!You must feel really dumb now, huh? XD

kkk122
If you only saved once (as in didn't overwrite the same savegame twice) after the screw-up you might have .bak files in your savegame folder. Delete the ".bak" from the filename (change the filename from <name>.ess.bat to <name>.ess) and load these.Unless I'm missing something you should also get a slideshow and an end after reading Sinclair's personal stuff. Didn't you? Edited March 22, 2014 by kkk122
