real travel mod???

i downloaded the cyrodil travel service mod thinkin it was what i was lookin for but not quite. i would like a mod that allows you to pay someone to take you from place to place. the mod i downloaded was close but all they do is essentially fast travel you. i want a mod where you actually get on a chariot, and they pull you by horse with a few guards from town to town. i think it would be immersive and much like real travel. instead of fast traveling or running from place to place, you pay, get on, sit back and relax while they take care of everything. im sure some people would find sitting there for a while boring but it would be like real life traveling. also in the event of an attack while traveling you could let the guards take care of it or hop of the cart and help them...

I don't think it's possible to pay, get on, and the chariot moves on IT SELF. I can imagine if it does (really cool), but how to do it is the problem. But since I've found a pilotable ship, I think it's possible for a chariot to move on it self. (somehow)

maybe use these carts or something? with all the amazing things people make for this game i wouldnt think it would be hard to execute.

 

Its isn't that easy...far from it... some people have tried. I believe there is one around. But there are more vids than mods about it. Simply because it takes quite some work to pull something off like this.

It would take months to pull something off like that...

 

However.. someone already did it:

I have an idea. Why not have it where you pay the npc who owns the horse, he pilots the horse to a set destination, based on the one you picked in the conversation, such as anvil. He could pilot it toward the town, and you can jump on the carriage, like the back seat or something. But you wouldn't auto sit, that would be complicated. Instead you could just stand on top of it, and there would be a couple benches attached to it, so you could sit down. Again, this may not be possible, but I think that you yourself having a job with this would be possible. Only the NPCS would be the ones sitting down, you driving, and you getting payed.

I believe something like this was already released at one time, but might have been pulled due to problems with how the cart was following the horse.

 

Essentially, there are two ways to do this kind of thing, and they each have the own problems.

 

One way is to redo the horse skeleton, or make a new one which has bones that could be used by a cart to be pulled along behind. Although this result might look the best when traveling on a straight and level path, as soon as there is any sort of slope, the cart being bound to the hose becomes obvious in that the cart pivots around the horse's position, being bounced and swung around without any real physicality. As it is part of the horse, it also lacks the ability for it to do anything other than follow behind the horse, meaning that you can't sit on it, can't stand on it, and that anything that hits it is treated as damage to the horse.

 

The other way is to use an activator which is scripted to move along behind the horse. Although this activator can be sat on, interacted with, and can follow along a bit more realistically, it is also much harder to do, can only be applied to a very specific instance, and is more prone to becoming broken due to scripting errors or slowness.

 

My guess would be that the demo shown in that clip would be the first case since the wheels spin at roughly the same rate the horse is moving, but might be tempted to see it as being the second case since it occasionally moves away from the horse. But, given that it is Mrsiika, I'm willing to consider a third option, a separate creature which looks like a cart, and has a follow package.
