Diablo

Ahh that takes me back. Diablo II was great, I played that game for months online and loved it. But I did sort of play it to death, and I lost the install disk, so I don't really play it anymore. The variety of characters, items, special moves and such and just the general hack n slash was supremely satisfying. A shallow game, but still one of the best I've played. :D

Diablo, IMO, wasn't as good as the sequel. It was very difficult, to the point where I just couldn't play any further, and wasn't as interesting.

I take it you mean you haven't heard of development of a Diablo III? Because I'm pretty sure they're not doing any more Diablos. They would have announced it if they were going to by now. Blizzard have other priorities nowadays, like World of Warcraft and such.

Diablo was a great game, and I played it to death, also. Both of them. Number 1 was great, it just needed the depth that number 2 had. The one key feature yet to be reproduced in a hack 'n' slash (as far as I know) is the random map generator. Everytime you play through the game it's DIFFERENT...now that's a brilliant feature. A linear game that changes to become non-linear.

D2 still is a good game in our house! My hubby & I keep the D2 shortcuts always on our desktop & play it together or seperately when we get in that certain mood. When you are in that certain mood - - no other game but Diablo II will do, ya know?

We do play the hacked versions by now, having acquired the uber armor people have made ... but other times we play just normal characters. The hubby is very good in all 3 levels - normal, nightmare & hell --- I sadly am mostly playing in normal, sometimes venturing into nightmare - but I have never played in hell. He like COWS the best, I have never played cows either, but I have heard them 'moo' in his headphones. lolol

I guess you could say that Diablo & Diablo2 were the great-grandfather of all the MMORPG's that we all so enjoy playing today.

I think this random map feature you are talking about would greatly add to the interest in game - it would keep you more on your toes than now, when you know all the maps like the back of your hand.

Yup, I enjoyed both Diablo I and II.

I enjoyed the first one more, it just had a certain style and felt a lot more eerie, which I didn't feel they managed to capture for the second one, but I still enjoyed that a lot too. (although I felt very under powered playing a paladin as opposed to playing a barbarian).

Actually Diablo reminded quite a bit of Legend, classic game that!

And yeah I can't see a Diablo III happening while WoW is going strong, but who knows.

I could never get into Diablo - not that I'm that experienced an RPGer, but it just seemed too arcadey. Only 3 characters (or 4?) mindlessley clicking away at zombies.... not my thing. Preferred BG myself.........
