So sorry, the reply's late, due to the problem I have when I have to sleep I have to sleep lol. Back now tho, not sure for how long but I'll give it a go.

Dads head came in through the door as I was tucking the amulet back into my shirt collar.

He paused a moment, "Come on then! I don't want you two to miss the sight about to occur as I know you will never believe it unless you've seen it. The secret palace I had built is nearly in view!"

I awoke to my brother's hand on my shoulder, shaking me gently "Come on Midgit," he said "we've gotta see this."

I scrambled out of be and put on my shoes, wanting to change out of my rumpled clothes but not having time, I followed my brother out of the door and up the stairs to the main deck.

The crew parted to let us through and as we approached the foredeck our father held out his hand to us and we both ran up the steps to stand with him and momma.

My breath caught in my throat at the sight that greeted us. There, not more than a mile or so away, was an visage of greenery, vibrant and lush, a port made up of wooden constructs, clean and welcoming and further behind, the Palace built of grey granite towering high above the town, but in a protective way, not threatening or looming.

The Royal banners could be heard snapping in the wind and on looking around could see that the town and Royal Palace was built on a natural bay, protected on two sides by mountain faces, the cliffs so sheer they looked like polished glass, on another a forest so dense and vibrant it looked alive in its own right, ready to defend those behind it to the death if need be and then of course the sea on the fourth.

"We're home." said Papa with a smile and I looked at him.

"But what about our people Papa, those we left behind?" I queried, totally puzzled by what he had said.

"We are still within our Realm," he replied, "this is our safe haven, built for such a time as this. Our people are safe Midgit, have no fear. They know why we left and that we will return. They have gone to another place where they will await our return. Do not fret little one, we have been preparing for this moment for many years."

I looked at my brother, he looked at me and shrugged. I turned to find Tollor and he too, smiled and nodded his head. I was so confused, there was so much I didn't understand and I had so many questions. My brother, being the Crown Prince, would be privy to more than I and I was worried about this as I deserved to know also, just because I was a girl didn't mean I shouldn't have the means open to me to defend myself if the time came. I needed to know the truth behind what was happening. I couldn't deny the changes in me or my brother and no matter what, we needed the help to deal with it.

We were young, we needed protection, but more than that we needed to have the training necessary to cope with what was happening and what may happen yet.

Tollor was still looking at me, his eyes hooded and dark, as if he could read my mind and soul. I couldn't look away and it was as if we connected at that point and he knew the thoughts swirling in my mind.

"Be patient little one." a voice whispered in my head "All will become clear, we will protect and train you, it will take time, and can't be rushed."

I looked at Tollor and he winked, he'd spoken to me without speaking, directly to my head as it were. I smiled in wonder and amazement and nodded that I understood.

I turned back to watch the ship dock and felt my brother's hand slip into mine. I gripped it tightly and looked at him. He had watched the interaction between Tollor and I and I knew he'd received the same kind of message as he was staring at me pointedly. "We'll speak more later," he whispered "we can't rush all this Midgit. Its new and frightening as well as exciting. Promise me you wont do anything too much too soon!"

I looked at him and, smiling I said "I promise, but I may not be able to control what I can do. That scares me brother."

He squeezed my hand and said "We'll get through this together, all of us squirt, believe me."

With that we looked ahead, towards what was coming, rather than what was behind us......

As we neared the ships channel into a bay I began to think about all the people we left behind. The colorful scenes with natures life kept me more amused for a time. What sis say awhile back got to a nerve. I was feeling the loss of those who were back at the Summer Castle. Mostly the men, but they had families, they had children my sisters and my age. I was beginning to feel gloom clouding my sky.

The clamour grew from sounds of seagull's near the shore and than a muffled sound begin to blend in and I saw them on the dock. Cheers rose in the air as people waved at us. Dad and Mom looked giddy with the sight and waved back. I could not stop my self and joined in waving at all the smiling, cheering, new, young, and old faces on the people all awaiting the ship to dock.

Sis looked delighted, "It''s like looking at a flower garden of colors. All the wonderful outfits they are wearing seem like petals and stamen's, with bees and butterflies... and it is all waving in a gentle breeze."

The sights, the sounds, the smells everything assaulted me. I waved along with the rest of my family, the people lining the docks and main thoroughfare all cheering and smiling. The gentle "thump" as the ship rocked against the jetty, men leaping over the side to secure her with thick ropes, the anchor's loud rattle and splash as it left the ship and hit the water.

We were escorted down the gangplank onto the dock a formation of soldiers and courtiers surrounding us as we walked away from our safety net. Looking over my shoulder the ship looked as bright and beautiful as everything around me, I wanted to go back and stay there, I'd felt so safe in its confines, here on the jetty walking towards the town and the Palace, it was open and soooo bright.

My brother's grip tightened on my hand and I followed his example, smiling and waving at the people surrounding us. "Just keep walking" I kept telling myself. "It'll be fine."

I was confused by my feelings of fear and dread. I supposed that it was the happenings of the last few days that had me on edge and that given time, I would calm and things would right themselves. I could hope I guess.

Walking behind our parents, keeping a smile on my face and holding my brother's hand so tightly I'm sure I cut off the circulation, I acted as I had been trained too all my life. Smiling waving, walking with assured firm steps. Tollor was behind us and that helped assuage my fears, though they were still there, hovering just under my smile.

As we stepped off the jetty I began looking around myself properly and gasped in pleasure. Everything was brightly coloured, clean and the smells fresh and inviting, not like any other dock area I had been too, not that I'd been to many mind.

The mayor of the town approached my parents bowing low, beaming from ear to ear, his wife and children next to him and for a moment I let myself believe all would be well.....

Ah! I thank you for the reminder as it seems I will soon fall in to the well of sleep and go where my dreams lead me. *Or do I lead them because of all the questions that I brewed up over the awakened time?* I honor sleep when I need it. Although you seemed depressed by the fact you had to get some I admire you for not complaining that you did not get enough. I too have had those days when I was sure I needed a referee to call a time out for some more of that comfy cozy soft cloud stuff.

I won't oppose you when you need it unless I fear I will run off with my dream girl and never write here again. Just giving you a fair warning in advance. I know as I become more positive there may still be a few life signs of love and happiness brimming over my cup again. He who has the knowledge must let the cup runneth over on occasions. Or as this note proves my typing goes, on and on.

I was beginning to lose my edge. My smiling lips began to curl down. Dad must have had a similar experience because he turned around. "Son, Nobody is happy to see us as much as they are happy we are all alive. This place has a purpose and the purpose is being fulfilled today. They are smiling and as we should be that the graces have given us their approval to continue."

I felt the sense of the crowd shift almost like a beast about to pounce just as that clarity was fed to me and reached that dark realm that was creeping into. "Ah! I understand." My smile return full and bright drawn up with a different composure. Sis was shocked as I was when Dad spoke up to me. I could see she took the meaningful caring the same, but I sensed her questions brimming.

I looked at her, "Stupid". She almost got mad. But the change of venue made her realize I was pointing out we both had just een educated a little more. I waved and smile and the crowds energies flowed with us in the know.

We were immediately turned to glide along the line made by the people. Someone played a pipe, a string was plucked and I remember that one time I heard that as some of our knights returned from a battle. Now I understood those two notes. Our stories would be come heard and a balladere would bring them to song.

The door were shut behind us. The mayor and his wife both retreated with saddened faces brewing. "We'll see you at noon meal?"

The privacy struck a cord in thought, "Dad, Dad! Won't Uncle Coandor know we are here? He could see me, remember?"

Dad turned to me, "Think a moment. What was your thought as we were leaving for the ship?"

I gave my self a moment to consider. While Dad had sat with me in the skiff cradling me as I held the amulet to see who it was as Dad asked.

Dad looked around at the inside of the enormous room. "Hunh! Where are we?"

I looked stupid for a moment and then I got his meaning, "I thought we would be going to the other palace, in the south."

We spoke as though we thought of it at the same time, "The winter palace."

He looked at me, "That's why I did not touch the amulet as you held it to you. He thinks we are on our way there. The storm that was brewing left us at dawns early light."

He peered at the face I was making, "Don't worry so much. The Falconers sent messages tied to homing pigeons legs and the word travel ahead of him as his direction was confused by the bond the amulet had between the Eye of Venus and the Eye of Newt breaking during the night. The General will be better prepared for a fight when Coandor arrives there. Now follow that maid and take your sister to your new room and wash for noon meal!"

Sis looked up, "I want to know..."

Mother looked over, "We can discuss your questions better on a full stomach after noon meal dear."

I took her hand and we both pulled and pushed and whispered and bulled our way along as the kind maid tried to lead us in a straight away fashion to our room.
