Dark0ne
Hate their site layout. I use Overclockers.co.uk for finding good gaming components, then search Dabs.com to see if they're offering the same component at a better price. Dabs are the cheapest out there from what I know -- Dabs are normally about £5 cheaper than Ebuyer and £7 - £10 cheaper than OCUK. I ordered a new mobo from Dabs on Tuesday at 8:30pm and received it 10am next day. Now that's PRO!
Kissimurra
Still, it sounds like it will give you a fairly significant boost. I got my card for around £250, so £171 might be a little pricey for one roughly half its capacity. Half of the normal 6800GT 256 Mbs capacity isnt really true. 3Dmark 03 score: PoV 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 : 10884 marksAsus 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 : 10883 marks6800GT 128MB DDR : 9573 marksX800 PRO 256 MB GDDR3 : 9426 marks Im not really sure what kind of system these cards were used on but it cant be something uber. I have 9600 Marks with my 6600GT so Im pretty sure that I will get over 12000 marks with the 6800GT 128mb, its a kinda big performance difference between 6600GT and 6800GT. As we can see on the scores the 6800GT 128MB is about as fast as the X800PRO, and this card has 256MB GDDR3! Marxist ßastard
Don't trust synthetic benchmarks. If they were any indication of real-world performance at all, then the GeForce FX would be the greatest video card ever made. Additionally, that benchmark is far too old. Any reviewer worth his salt would use 3DM05 in this case, as 3DM03 is probably going to be CPU-limited by now.
Kissimurra
What do you mean by saying that this benchmark is synthetic? Anyway, I have looked around a bit and I found some usefull information. The ASUS V9999GT is in fact a Graphics Card that has the 6800(NU) PCB and the 6800GT GPU, its a sort of hybrid. Altohugh it has 16 pieplines. Asus has done this before, They put the 6800(NU) GPU on a 6800 ultra PCB. This one has 12 pipelines.
Stanhead
A 128MB 6800GT is a waste of money. Might as well get a 256MB 7800GTX or a X1800. They're not that much more expensive and will future proof you for a while.
Kissimurra
Yeah, I agree, but the problem is that I do not have a PCIe motherboard, I have AGP. I might just buy a new mobo and Graphics card at the same time, I feel that its time jump on the PCie train, :P
