Eshenaleros
the reason there's so much Garlic, as even Vicente's letter explains, is that superstition dictates that vampires are affected by garlic. Vicente is just alerigic
Retribution
I'd wager it has something to do with the count in one way or another.
AncientSpaceAeon
It is true that some popular lore holds that all vampires have an inherent weakness to garlic, but this is simply not the case. My situation, as far as I can tell, is uniqueMeans ALL vampires may have a weakness to garlic, but Vicente's weakness to garlic is unique.

Because the vampire around Skingrad isn't just the count, there are vampires near the city.

Because the vampire around Skingrad isn't just the count, there are vampires near the city.what I meant by my post was that, because there's a rumor of a vampire, regardless of who it it, superstition says that garlic will protect you. Vampires are not affected by garlic normally, I have even found vampires in posesion of garlic before in game, and it does not weaken them in the least. Vicente is apparently alergic to garlic, and because of that he is the only vampire in all of cyrodiil to be weakened by the white little cloves. Superstition = GarlicGarlic =/= Weakened Vampires (Vicente Excluded)Superstition = Garlic cloves used to ward of vampire attacks and by the way, the entire reason why they hang Garlic is because of superstition, which bethesda roleplays to its utmost (like they do when writing books)
TheCalliton
I can think of about three good reasons garlic is so popular in Skingrad.Maybe to stop the count drinking the citizen's blood.in the bark brotherhood cleansing quest, it says that the vampire dude (forgot his name) has an odd weakness to garlic not experienced by other vanpires so, it makes sense that other vamps dont have this weakness
David Brasher
The vampire cure calls for garlic among other things, so it must have some sort of a chemical effect on vampires. But you are right. It is mainly just superstition. The garlic in Skingrad isn't going to protect those poor souls from the unholy things that come out in the night. Crimsanity
My vampire character feeds on them anyway. In fact, she mostly feeds in Skingrad. Lazare Milvan in particular, he sleeps like a rock. He's always cranky when he wakes, but he was that way before I started nomming his neck in his sleep.
